Knew this dude in college. Was at a Christmas party, drove home and wrecked. DUI.

In jail. Bailed out. Can't drive until the hearing or even after. Doesn't matter anyway. Says Tundra is probably totaled.

Was several points over the limit.

Good guy, could have happened to any of us. He works for Glaxo, Smith, Cline. Said if his employer found out, he'd be fired ASAP as they have a strict policy for some reason.

Be careful this holiday season, fellas. Don't let this happen to you.

Yep, Company will find out as he most likely has a company car and it is not the Tundra, yet they will do annual license checks. My Company is ZERO tolerance with it and you are fired. Sucks for him. Company cars are a great benefit but also a detriment for this reason if you choose to drink and drive. Not worth it.

Couldn't have happened to me bc I wouldn't put myself in the position. I have done some stupid shit that I'm very remorseful for, but when it comes to breaking the law, I have not.

Seriously, his best route Might be to fess up and admit to having a problem. Maybe that would get him off the hook and keep his job?? Something to think about for sure. I have seen some people in healthcare go thru addictions and even be assisted by employers in getting treatment and did not lose their jobs.

Best wishes to him and good reminder for all our friends here at Madjacks.

Good guy,

Kinda hard to make the connection to those two points when he chose to drive IMO.

Funny thing is, had some random drunk driver ran into your friend and injured/killed him everyone would be calling for the drunk guys head.

Since you know the guy it's OK and we should feel bad for him?

Good point.

I don't feel bad for him.

Not asking anyone too.

Fair enough. It's just that everyone who gets a DUI, kills/hurts someone, or simply wrecks due to being impaired is someone's son/daughter, friend, mother/father, sister/brother and there will always be someone who says they are a great person and simply made a bad decision.

They obviously feel much different if the accident happens to their loved one instead of because of them.

One of the biggest double standards that exists in our world today.

Not on my high horse but this is the second thread I have read in the last ten minutes that said, got a DUI, could have happened to any of us. Nope, not me. Why, bc I don't drink and drive. Why, because I don't want to severely negatively impact my life or someone else's. I do a lot of bad things, I am no saint but I don't understand how there is some belief that everyone drinks and drives.

See, I am not that great, I just tripped and fell while getting off my soapbox.

"Could have happened to any of us"

means this guy has wife, kids, steady job loves sports.....just like everyone here. Just got too liquored up at the bar and wasn't thinking. Thinking is something you don't do when you're hopped up on the sauce.

According to some on here if you are going to drink and are above or close to the bac limit, you should just obey the rules of the road more prudently, like actually stopping at stop signs and going the speed limit. That is the caution they exercise and think is just logic in such situations.

Completely ridiculous and just another in a long line of excuses in these instances.

I never have more than two beers when I am out unless I have a driver. It's called thinking and planning and basically not being weak. I have no sympathy for these assholes who get loaded up and then want us to feel sorry for them. Use your fucking head.

Do you TEXT and Drive?

Here we fucking go again! Why does this get brought up every time? Texting and driving is bad and wrong, and I'm against it and have changed my tune in that area. However, comparing the two doesn't make one less wrong. Driving under the influence is horrible and inexcusable. Sad how often it happens and how callous people are to it when they obviously should know better. It's not just the good old boy thing to do.

No. That is even worse.

Nope driving drunk is worse. There is no comparison. Texting and driving always seems to be brought up by the drunk driving apologists. I guess Skulfuk is a drunk driver, and if so, eat shit and die before u kill somebody. :0008 Maybe if some of u took care of some innocent people whose lives have been changed and often taken because of drunk driving you might catch a clue and stop doing it.

This whole issue pisses me off to no end. Fuk drunk drivers. Some of you here do it, and I've seen u do it when I couldn't stop you, and I have stopped u when I could. If u know somebody is doing it and u don't stop them, u have responsibility when they have a wreck.
