from a numbers standpoint....boy, the days sure seem to be dragging along...wonder why?
It's the time of the year when I do my annual pencil-whipping...some may call it cheating...but I always seem to do well tho this time of year...:mj07: bearing in mind the regular season is usually a lot different.
But I've got to have something to help get me thru to late August/early September. I didn't get to 'play' the last 3rd of the season last year as I started a new/demanding job and just didn't have the time...and I was so frustrated about that that I didn't even have the courtesy to say, "good luck and catch you guys next year." So now that's said and done...here's to a new year!
The spreadsheet below is for the bowl games last year...mainly I wanted to check some things out to see how they might do. Although this is 'back-capping' all the stats are/were current through each teams final season game, and to the best of my knowledge accurate...the only thing not totally accurage is schedule strength...as the SS listed included (I believe) the actual bowl game itself...however, I think there would be only a minimal difference as 12 games had already been played and 1 more game added into the total probably didn't make that much of a difference?

Finally learned how to import data (from a website) that is in a spreadsheet format...so no more the drudgery of logging the box scores...it's no fun anyway if you have to work too hard to do something (for me anyway).
For this test run I used a 5 point 'difference' between the opening line as compared to the difference between each teams power ratings. For example...1st game...Utah -11.5...had them by 5.0...difference being 6.5...so that was a play on Navy.
