3* Texas/Washington State Over 59

For a trend player this play has ammo galore. Texas is 17-7O/U outside of the Big 12, 5-0 O/U on a neutral field, 4-2 O/U when playing a team with a winning record, while State is 4-0 O/U as an underdog this year. The two teams combine to average 73.2 ppg between them, with a combined total of 830 ypg.

In Texas' last three Holiday Bowl games (in the last 4 years) the total points scored averaged 77.3 ppg. Their games vs. bowl teams this year have been high scoring, with the score averaging 63 ppg vs. Arkansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Okie State, and Texas Tech. After Young took control of their offense, the rushing game took off averaging 98 more ypg over the last 6 games of the year. Texas failed to score less than 40 points in only one of those contests, when they hung 31 on Nebraska. They averaged 45 ppg in those games, as Young made a huge difference.

Washington State was able to put up some big #s against some good defenses (albeit not in Texas' class), scoring 31 on UCLA and 36 on Oregon State. They also put up 47 vs. Colorado, and 55 on Oregon, so they have firepower available. All this adds up to a lot of scoring tonight.

2* Fresno State +3

Fresno played very well down the stretch this year, while UCLA struggled offensively most of the season. The added time off should help the Bruins cause, but from what I have read since September, they simply couldn't grasp the blocking schemes in the run game. They averaged only 306 ypg this year.

Fresno has a very big OL, and the offense really took off after Pinegar took control, scoring more than 7 more ppg.

Head Coach Hill still plays up the underdog role, and the Bulldogs respond to it vs. the Big Boys. They are 14-6 ATS vs. Pac 10 teams, as this is not unlike the MAC players who get so pumped to play the Big 10. These players weren't considered good enough to play for the neighoring conference, so they feel they have something to prove.

These are group picks. I hit my personal Texas Tech pick earlier, freelancing...
:D

Good luck tonight!
