Thursday: 4-0 (+31*)

Hopefully last night's results was the sign of a normalization in CFB.

Other than that, previous results have been wretched. Close your eyes and skip these next couple of lines.

Last week (through Wednesday): 11-18 (-44.7*)
CFB YTD: 35-45 (-96.5*)

Last night we whittled the deficit down 30 units, and hopefully over the weekend we'll make a move toward being in the black again.

Friday:
7* Utah -9
I just played this right before posting. Most places have this at 10, but Carib still has it at 9.5 and I bought the hook to bring it down a bit more. I feel I should be on the best team tonight, and that any rationalizations to take New Mexico would just be getting too cute. This one looks cut and dry to me.

7* Teaser: Utah -2.5, under 56
My same game teasers have gone real well lately, in case you haven't noticed. Take Thursday's teasers: I kind of like both games over, but I didn't feel strongly enough about taking the overs, so I teased the over with the side for 7.5 points (Pinnacle). Both games went under, but both teasers won easily.

Saturday:
7* Auburn +3
This is another game I just got on. Most places are at 2, but again Carib is still at 2.5 and I teased it to 3. I suggest if you want either of these games at this price you should get them soon or they might be out of reach. I love Tenn's two freshmen QBs, but they are going to experience a new breed of defense Saturday with Auburn. Auburn is playing with a quiet confidence, doing the things they were expected to do last season. I'll go with the 5th year senior QB who's been here and done that, and a relentless rushing attack. The Vols will miss the star LB that went out for the season last week. I just got a feeling about this game. Auburns wins a hard-fought victory.

More Saturday action:

10* Bowling Green -6
I bought the half in this game, and often do so, for those unfamiliar with me. I like this play a lot, but to tell the truth, there are a lot of others here who could write about the MAC more interestingly than me. To tell the truth, I am not very excited about writing up this game. I am an old SEC guy, although I also track all teams in the ACC as well as the ever-changing Big East and C-USA. Anyway, the 10* should say it all. If not, don't worry about it.

7* TCU -18
This was almost a 10*, and would have been if there were not an injury situation with the TCU QBs. Apparently the 3rd teamer could be at the vital position this weekend -- the question is whether it will matter against Army. I'm thinking that the Horned Frogs could cover this game without throwing a single pass. I don't think the Cadets can stop their running game, and I don't think that Army will muster much of an offense against this bunch. (Then again, how many did TT score -- 70 something? LOL) Anyway, the main question is will the Frogs focused, and I think they will be.

7* Ole Miss -18
This selection is probably funny to some of you, as I've missed the last two with the Rebs, but I was against them with Vandy and won. They're bound to cover a spread sooner or later, and this should be the week. The thing about the Arkansas St game is that it's annually been the laugher, the game when the guys can warm up by getting up a few TDs and then let the replacements play out the 2nd half. However, this year it's not like that. The Rebels are absolutely focused. They have been looking terrible and they know it. They know they have to put something together in this game and make a statement, or the SEC season is going to go haywire. The Rebels have too much talent for that to happen. If Eli were still there, they would be considerably better than they were last year. But Eli's not there and another QB has to come through. Spurlock is out of the race unless injuries dictate otherwise. Soph Ethan Flatt (such a great 'deep south' name) is improving from game to game, and fans are hoping former Parade All-American Robert Lane will see his first action as a Reb QB. Arkansas St's opponents have averaged 43 points a game against them, and that includes NE LA. The Rebels should cover this line rather easily. If they don't, they are in deep doo-doo.

7* Teaser of the Week: LSU +10, under 44
I seriously doubt the Dawgs will beat the Tigers by more than 10 points -- if they even happen to score that many. This will be an old-fashioned rock'em sock'em defensive struggle with two of the great college defenses.

5* LSU/Geo under 37.5
See the above. There won't be a whole lot of points scored in this game.

5* Vandy -10
I first posted this game on Monday, I think. Since then the spread went up to 13 and then down to 12.5. I love it at 10, you be the judge with the current spread. Miss St starting QB Connor is out and 2nd teamer York has a sore arm, and didn't have that great of an arm to begin with. Since he's not physically able to play the whole game, true freshman Mike Henig will have to take off his redshirt and see some game action a lot sooner than he had thought. Croom is building a program at Miss St, but this is currently a very bad team. After being crushed at LSU last week, I just can't see them having a lot of spirit playing at Vanderbilt. Vandy should easily cover the current spread, but they should definitely cover the 10.

I have already written up Auburn above. You know there are a couple of other big games in the SEC tomorrow, and I'll release those a little later.

I don't care what anyone says

I don't care what anyone says

Your sharp as a knife. Good calls, as usual.

UGA and AUBURN are my two plays Saturday, and Indy is my big NFL play.

It's hard to believe that some people persisted on playing Miss St even though I posted early in the week to not touch them no matter how many points they get. For some reason some folks determined that Vandy couldn't possibly cover as a double-digit favorite. Oh well, I guess that those who listened to good advice are happy about it now.

SOMEWHERE AROUND THE S.E.C.
hey reb i assume you are talking about me since i played ms state.

never will i or never have i laid over 6- points on vanderbilt. they are born losers.

just as bad as you thinking of my ms state play, i think even worse that you played LSU. Did you not see my 10* play on georgia . Georgia was as close to a lock as you will ever see. This is not even close to as the team LSU had last year.

good luck on future plays and keep and eye out on my future s.e.c plays. now that i am in the plus collumn, i look for me to really make some serious noise the next 6-7 weeks.

S.E.C., i wasn't thinking of you at all. i was thinking of all the people at this site and others who declared they could never lay double-digits on Vandy in the very thread that i warned them to lay off State.

Congrats on your big win on Georgia. That was very clear vision on your part.
