Although I respect many of the handicappers here at Madjack's, I must take you all to task on these terrorist attacks. My sister-in-law 'worked' in what was 7 World Trade Center -- the 3rd building to collapse on Tuesday. It was a terrifying 3 hours for me and my family while we tried to make contact with her to make sure she was OK. Cellular service was non-existent. Getting a dial tone on a landline was like trying to get through to your local radio station while they were running a $25,000 giveaway. Only due to the grace of God were we finally able
to learn that she OK and safe. My brother-in-law is a NYC police officer who has the "privilege" of tagging body parts. That's right you read correctly. I have friends (2 brothers) who own an electronic store a few blocks from my home. They are Lebanese --Arabic speaking-- who ironically organized a merchant fair this past Saturday and gave a ton of merchandise back to the community for free. They have been in this country for approx. 25 years and have owned their store in my neighborhood for at least 12 years. One brother plays softball with the Police department and won the National Championships held in Ohio this year. I personally bowled on a police league for 4 years and worked at the bowling center doing police leagues for 2 additional years. One of the workers in their store has a sister who is a volunteer ambulance worker. So you can understand that we have a lot of friends that we are praying for each night to ensure they return home safely. The brothers are trying to get their mother home from Europe without incident.
Please don't get me wrong. I, like most every other American want to be first in line to go smack the beard right of Bin Laden's face but I do agree that this is the result of prior America involvements in issues we may not have been. Iraqi TV claimed that this is "The fruit of American crimes against humanities". But I am a white male who lives in a neighborhood I tend to call "Little Guyana" so I don't believe in acting out toward every Arab, towelhead, dothead, camel jockey or as one Madjacker so 'eloquently' claimed as sandniggers. Although there probably are some who are deserving of these monikers, there are plenty of others who are American as we are.
After watching the people on the West Bank rejoicing in the streets at our loss of people, and handing out candy because of the 'sweet victory', I agree with Norman Schwarzkopf (sp?) that we went out of our way to ensure the safety of civilians during our attacks in Desert Storm to the extent that we endangered our own troops. But these bastards, his word not mine, have no regard for human life as they purposely attacked targets that were known to have civilian personnel.
I guess I am saying to basically save your agressions for those who are deserving --Bin Laden, his followers and those who helped them board these planes with the knives and boxcutters. The problem is that when you go through the metal detectors at your local airport, how much do you think they make. And these guys could have probably walked up and handed them a $100 bill to tell them to look the other way.
Same way as the FBI is obtaining search warrants to get into the Westin Hotel in Boston. That is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. I think that the FBI should have carte blanche to kick in any door they deem necessary to bring these people to 'justice' as long as 'justice is not life in prison.
I apologize for this long-winded post but it has clearly hit home and yet I am not one of the people who have lost a loved one.
By the way, an Arab grocery store owner was attacked by several people early Wednesday morning just because they were Arabs.
Maybe we should narrow the opening in the border but we still are America and our variety of ethnicities is what makes our country so great.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND PRAY FOR THE VICTIMS, THEIR FAMILIES AND THE RESCUERS WHO ARE WORKING TIRELESSLY TO SAVE THOSE STILL BURIED IN THE RUBBLE.
P.S. Now 4 and 5 World Trade Center have collapsed. How many more??
