Jason Kendall two games and fined him an undisclosed amount for
excessive arguing and making contact with umpire Jim Wolf in a
game against the Chicago Cubs on July 24; suspended Milwaukee
Brewers manager Davey Lopes two games and fined him an
undisclosed amount for comments made toward San Diego Padres
outfielder Rickey Henderson in a July 29 game.

Atlanta Braves -- Acquired infielder Rey Sanchez from the Kansas
City Royals for pitcher Brad Voyles and infielder Alejandro
Machado.

Baltimore Orioles -- Acquired pitcher Kris Foster and catcher
Geronimo Gil from the Los Angeles Dodgers for pitcher Mike
Trombley.

Boston Red Sox -- Acquired pitcher Ugueth Urbina from the
Montreal Expos for pitcher Tomo Ohka and Richard Rundles.

Chicago Cubs -- Signed infielders Ryan Theriot and Brendan
Harris and pitcher Carlos Nolasco.

Cleveland Indians -- Acquired outfielder Milton Bradley from the
Montreal Expos for pitcher Zach Day; assigned Bradley to Buffalo
of the International League (AAA)

Colorado Rockies -- Acquired pitcher Scott Elarton and a player
to be named from the Houston Astros for pitcher Pedro Astacio
and cash considerations.

Houston Astros -- Acquired pitcher Mike Williams from the
Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Tony McKnight; promoted
outfielder Mike Rosamond to Round Rock of the Texas League (AA).

Oakland Athletics -- Purchased the contract of infielder F.P.
Santangelo from Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League (AAA);
optioned infielder Mark Bellhorn to Sacramento.

St. Louis Cardinals -- Activated outfielder J.D. Drew from the
15-day disabled list; placed pitcher Mike Timlin on the 15-day
disabled list, retroactive to July 26, with a torn meniscus in
his left knee.

San Francisco Giants -- Acquired pitcher Jason Christiansen from
the St. Louis Cardinals for pitcher Kevin Joseph and a player to
be named or cash.

One more transaction if you may not already know,

the NYY get Sterling Hitchcock for two minor league prospects.

San Diego trying to cut back on expenses, it appears that they have lost an average of $10 million per year since 1995.

All this comes from todays Union tribune san diego's paper.
