and i`m not being facetious......i look at this oregon st club and on paper, they look awesome.....

great receivers......maybe one of the top 5 running backs in the ncaa(a sure fire pro prospect).....a defense that ranks #1 overall in the pac 10.......one that stops the run cold......a qb that has 23 td passes and ranks highly in the ncaa...

on paper,a monster club full of talent......

then why,in a relatively down year in the pac 10,aren`t they better than 7-5?.....

what`s the fly in the ointment here???

just curious...pac 10 guys help me out.....thanks...

It is called 23 interceptions and an ass of penalties. They are poorly coached and I am sure that in an environment like Las Vegas their minds might not quite be on beating a no-name club like the New Mexico Lobos.

Wonder who I am taking??? :tongue

my 2 cents...

I've seen OSU play a few times this year and they have problems in certain aspects of their game. For one, they have a very marginal OL which is why Jackson doesn't have a great YPC average. When they cannot run the ball, they have to pass with Anderson and he is turnover prone. In fact, he has more picks than TD's this year. He'll put together a great drive and then kill it with a throwing a pick. Not to mention the 10-15 penalties that come with an Oregon State football team.

Hope that helps some. I'm outta here...off to San Antonio! :)

Just an FYI...New Mexico LOVES to blitz and they will get to the quarterback tonight. If Anderson can somehow avoid turning it over they can beat them handily......but I dont see that happening.

Anderson had some of his worst performances against bowl bound teams.....

15-44/ 5 INTS against Fresno
16-42/2 INTS against Washington State
34-60/4 INTS against USC

Yardage is nice.....but this quarterback is over-rated.

OSU has been classic underachievers this yr.....youre right about how they look on paper....they are very solid on both sides of the ball and if they bring their "A" game this is will be a double digit win for them....jackson will pound up yds on the ground....anderson will throw for yds....the 2 questions will be whether anderson makes mistakes and throws picks and whether or not their coach riley will let his team decide the outcome rather then his bonehead play calling he does from time to time...if u r playing this game, your wager has to be based on whether OSU brings it or not.....no disrespect intended to the lobos but if both teams show up, OSU just has more talent at the skill positions, playmakers on both sides of the ball, they're big and fast and can be overwhelming....if they come out flat and make mistakes with turnovers and bonehead penalties then they'll probably lose....i bet they come out to play and win....if so they win by 10 or more;) ...jmho....good luck in whatever way u go:)

thanks

for the info....i read as much as i could....only saw them vs fresno this year(on the east coast,we don`t get that many pac10 games).....

some on other boards are making the argument that if boise and fresno can hang in,then new mexico has a shot.....

a toughie......

thanks again for the info...
