On the course!
What do you think the Seattle/Indians game meant to each of those teams?

I think Seattle will catch fire even more due to their collapse last night. I would hate to have to play them this week!

Cleveland should be a hot choice, too, over the next few days.

What do you guys think?

Alex Lifeson--

I am taking the opposite viewpoint for now. I kept watching that game last night waiting for Seattle to close the game out-- and it never came. In addition, they kept showing Pinella, et al sitting in the dugout looking like they just got hit by a truck.
Psychologically, I think this game may put a bit of a dent in the armor that is the Mariners. I mean, this team is 50(!) games over .500.
It will make for an interesting next couple of days, thats for should.....

don't think it will hurt mariners to much, they know they can't win 7 out of 10 the whole year, and they know there will be a bad streak or two the 2nd half,i am sure this has been drilled into them,as well as how good they are when this happens.
as for indians this was huge for them, this is the kind of win that can jump start a team that is in a tight race. and if they come through today it will start the ball rolling and you could see a very good run of 7 out of 10 from them and a good close in the last 2 months.

I doubt that this will have any immediate effect on Mariners. When you are 50 games over .500 - these things can happen on rare occasion. They have no pennant race to motivate them. I doubt that they will spin into a losing streak due to apathy, but it is almost understandable (unless you bet them) that something like this could happen when you are in their unique position.

It was due to happen... Their bullpen had been nearly perfect since the All Star break, and sooner or later it's gotta give. I doubt if they go into much a tailspin, maybe .500 ball for awhile, they can afford it. They have too many good solid players to slump too long. I think FLETCHER's right about the INDIANS though, I expect this will propel them into a hot streak, starting tonite! They had taken Alomar and Gonzalez out last nite after it got to 12-0, so they are well rested and should contribute big time tonite.

I think Seattle will be in shock still at least for the game tonight. If they don't get to Nagy and get behind they will be finished tonight. That is why I jumped on the Indians tonight. All my capping points to the M's, but after what happened last night this is more of a momentum play. I think seattle will be fine when the come home this week. But I believe they are still in shock tonight.

On the other hand it really pumps up cleveland. A win like that can propel you to win 8,9 in a row. They just got Juan Gone back yesterday, they are 5-10 without him this year. With him in the line-up and Thome behind him this is a team to be dealt with by the end of the year.

Well, we got Teddy KGB, and now we got Worm in here! I guess I'll change my handle to Grandma!

I think a lot of you guys are falling into a "false hope" zone here.

I think Seattle will come out and pound the shit outta Cleveland tonight. How would you like to be a team facing a shot at being the best (statistically) in history, and have the worst letdown in 76 years in the same season?

People can say, "It was bound to happen." but I say bullshit! There is no way that those guys on that Seattle team are just shrugging that one off!

We shall see what happens, but I know where I will have my money.
