I don't even know what to say anymore. Just when you think you have heard it all, it gets worse.

(CNN) - Potential 2012 presidential candidate Rick Santorum said the "abortion culture" in America is to blame for the failing Social Security system.

In an interview with WEZS Radio in Laconia, New Hampshire, Tuesday, the former Republican Pennsylvania senator said abortion rates are influencing the number of children born in the United States and there are therefore not enough children to support the program long-term.

"The Social Security system in my opinion is a flawed design, period. But having said that, the design would work a lot better if we had stable demographic trends," Santorum said. "A third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion."

Santorum, an outspoken opponent of abortion, made the comments in response to a caller who said abortion rates are to blame for the problems with Social Security and Medicare.

"We have seven children so we're doing our part to fund the Social Security system," Santorum said. "I want children to be living in America and contributing. America's greatest resource is our people and we're denying America what it needs, which is more Americans."

Santorum was in New Hampshire, the first-in-the-nation primary state Tuesday to meet with voters and headline a GOP dinner in Concord.

doggie, do you make the assumption that illegitimate births are a negative for society?

If so, then you should be in favor of abortion on demand.

Do you agree with Santorum that abortion causes a Social Security problem?

If so, then you should want to ban all forms of birth control too.

How many little workers have you and Santorum produced to carry the SS load, and what will you do when they reach retirement age? And, shouldn't you select for sex, since males earn more than females?

Do you and Santorum think we can breed our way to economic prosperity? Sounds like a Ponzi scheme to me.

And billions more are missing because of birth control.....and some folks just plain aren't fucking enough. Shirkers.

Pretty ludicrous statement from Santorum.

He is assuming that there would be jobs for all those aborted adolescents as well, I believe?

It is more likely that all those adolescents would be a further drain on the economy as in the current state we are in, they would be unemployed.

I hate the abortion debate. No one has the right to tell a woman what she can or can not do with her body except herself. if it has to be legislated, leave it to each individual state to make their own laws regarding abortion.
