I can't believe someone could do something so horrible to their own son! Never expected that from AP

What's with all these scum bag NFL players lately..Jesus Christ! You'd think they'd get all their rage out on the field.

why aren't we calling for the removal of the General Management of the Vikings for the blatant cover up of a child beater?
This incident happened back in May, here we are in September and the Vikings have been letting him play and practice all this time.

I look forward to the morality police rallying in the streets to protest the Vikings for letting him continue to be on the team and not taking any action on this until now.

Blatant cover up of a child beater? Where is your proof of that? What do you think the Vikings knew? If they knew then I am sure Goodell knew, he may as well go too then. The pictures were just released now, the Vikings were gathering information, wouldn't you think if management was "covering it up" they would have done a whole hell of a lot more to solidify the back up RB situation?

Well, the incident happened last May.
AP testified to the grand jury WEEKS ago about this.
He beat a kid. His own kid. Look at the photos that were taken, and those photos were taken a week after it happened.

An NFL all pro running back doesn't testify in front of a grand jury without the Front office knowing about it.

Oh wait... sorry, had this confused with NCAA and penn state for a second.

Nevermind folks, you'll have him back on your fantasy football team in about a week.

So you think the Vikings had access to those photos? The Vikings are not to blame here, he testified weeks ago and nothing came of it until now. Comparing the Vikings to Penn St? Are you hitting the bottle?

I agree with yyz and marine. This is more about media making it into a story as if this is some singular horrific event rarely seen in today's cultured societies. Give me a break. I use to have to go pick the switch from the trees and hand them to my dad, big deal.
I don't agree with it, I never did it as a father but you guys are talking like this should cost the guy his career or hundreds of thousands of dollars because you saw it on tv. None of you are going to be standing down at the courthouse tomorrow picketing for similar punishments to actual child abusers!? The guy isn't father of the year, so fucking what? What does that have to do with matriculating the football down the field? Seriously? He's not a role model, not a superhero, none of that.
I just don't get how people think ruining his career is going to help his son? Ridiculous.

So your dad beat you with that switch in the genital area when you were only four?

Shawn,
First of all, my dad did far worse than that at four, three, two, ten, whatever, but that is not the point. It was never my point, so I'll simply ask you nicely to not degrade my statement into some twisted facsimile that isn't indicative of anything I said.
My point is simple and direct. I don't condone his actions. I'm aware that the practice of using a switch or belt, or hair brush, or a mini hockey stick to punish a child exists and is accepted in many if not most cultures. Ours included. While the practice has fallen under intense scrutiny lately due to this case, don't act like this is news to you! Don't call for AP to lose his career simply because you didn't give a shit about the practice last may when this story actually was first reported, and now because you saw some pictures on twitter you're all aghast! It's fucking ridiculous.
Now, I do believe that AP hurt the kid and I do believe that spanking of any kind is unnecessary, which is why I will once again state that I have never even threatened to raise my hand to a child, and I think AP should probably be forced to take some parenting classes. That's it. You know why Isay that's it? Because that's what happened to the only person I know that got into trouble for this in a surprisingly similar situation, except he's a roofing contractor.
I don't personally know AP, but he certainly doesn't deserve to be treated excessively harsh just because he's a famous figure.
I know you like to argue with me Shawn, and both of us have gone off on other members of this forum. If a number of members were to pick out a particular comment I make in the political forum, quote it in the general forum, complain about it, analytically break it down and say the comment was abhorrent even though that same comment was made hundreds of times before, you'd see other members fall in line and agree that it was the worst thing they ever heard, blah blah blah.... and it may eventually lead to me getting banned. Why would I get banned for something when other members that may be lesser known or didn't have their comments quoted and have been doing it for years?

And another thing Shawn, I don't believe that you and I have had words or argued on here for some time. I don't care to go back to that to be quite honest with you, so I kept my way too long reply civil, it would be great if you do the same man and maybe we can put all the old crap behind us. I also only glossed over the subject of my upbringing because I would rather not have my upbringing or my deceased father's name and or parenting be a topic of discussion, so if you'd please honor that request I'd really appreciate it. No harm no foul now.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Hope that helps

I didn`t see the pictures and don`t care to... and i don`t agree with what Peterson did... he`s going to pay dearly......but I doubt that he purposefully beat his son in the genital area....sounds more like he was trying to hit a squirming 4 year old with a switch and hitting the kid`s genitals was the unintended result...still,the fact that it happened shows how over the top Peterson was.......

a switch?..didn`t he realize that a switch can lacerate the skin?....if you have to spank your kid,no wide belts in Montgomery county?....maybe use your hand?

If the media going on and on about it helps the overall problem of abuse in this country even a very tiny amount then it doesn't bother me one bit. I say that being a confirmed cynic too. Do I think AP should be banned for life? No. But I think there is something wrong when players are suspended more for smoking some fucking weed then abusing a kid, smacking a woman, assaulting other males and of course killing animals. Just sayin...
