i wonder how much tax they would charge on that if it hits, anyone know?

the same as a guy or girl who hit on a slot machine for 20k.

stupid to wager this much and pay taxes on it. theres 3 or 4 books that will take this and not sneeze if you withdrawl a win the next day.

in the grand scheme of things 20k really isn't that much.

Something just occurred to me after I read this thread.
If I am out of line just say so and delete the post....
but...given the beautiful ads on this very page soliciting wagering on sports wouldn't it be a great marketing tool for one of these trusted and quick pay off-shore sportsbooks advertising right here on this very page to STEP UP and welcome the action...Better yet wouldn't that invite carry even more weight if it can from one of the higher ups of these trusted and quick pay sportsbooks?
One reason to advertise is to draw in new customers....Well......here is a customer w/40 Large and he wants to let it fly...
Gotta believe if Pinnacle is made aware of this gentleman's intentions they will gladly take his 40 Large and allow the money line wager.

May be off my rocker here...but then again..

Get a cashiers check and fly to vegas and place at at least 5 different sportsbooks.

Who is the pick? Personally I think the Bears ml:padlock: is a lock!

I keep telling him.......I am sure some of these accts take MUCH,MUCH bigger wagers than his 40,000.........especially in the NFL playoffs......

Yeah, there are bigger bets than that, but you will not get down for 40 large without a reference. You will need to spread it around and it will probably need to be done simultaniously.

Books talk....a large bet like that on a side will cause the line to shudder (move). He won't be able to post it within 10 min. of the game. You need to get there early...talk to the sportsbook mgr. and arrange things....

40 large is a substantial bet...even today. Some of the other posters have alternatives that seem plausible.

Purely saying that I am of the opinion that Pinnacle would gladly takes his single game money line wager of $40,000.00.
I am also saying that IMHO that this very question of a single wager of $40,000.00 on a money line in NFL action is a fantastic spot for Pinnacle or any of the sportsbooks who advertise here to have someone from their business drop into the thread and welcome the wager.
I can further say that if I was an employee of marketing for one of the sportbooks advertising here and heard about the question I would not only drop in and say HI and welcome the wager.I would also mention that basketball is in full swing and baseball is just around the corner.

IE..I wasn't trying to be cute, snippet or a smart ass in anyway..I have been following MADJACKSPORTS since the early days of "Hoops" and kcwolf and I had never read a thread where the question of a $40,000.00 wager was raised.

Besides...not my style to try to start something out of nothing...enough of that in the world already..

Best of luck to the gentleman that makes the wager...

I wonder why bowman screwed me left and right when i built an account up to 20 from five. I think ten cents is a lot to some of these books. Now that my boddog account is starting to climb its a wondrful thing to know that bowmans has something to do with them. I would love to go to pinnacle or the greek but i like the extra 1/2 point.

put it in his neteller account.

then place it at a few books or all at pinnacle. if its done at pinnacle, no w-2s

gl

So regardless of how much one withdraws from Pinny they have no worry of a w-2 or any tax situations?

A buddy and I were discussing this today and wondered if there was a certain amount that would catch the banks attention or if pinny was required to do anything. We assumed it would be fine. What range would draw attention? 5k? 10K? 20K?

maverick, I'm astonished your friend didn't learn his lesson from what happened in the Ohio state game. I would say betting against Belichick & Brady in a playoff game scenario is inviting trouble. Combined what are they 23-1 or something. I know LT is incredible and all, but we are still talking about Marty & rookie quarterback. People don't realize that Rivers rating has drop every single month this season. That's because as film became available on his strengths and weaknesses coaches began to scheme against him. Nobody schemes better than New England. If they can scheme Manning/Colts & Warner/Rams (when they were the greatest show on turf", I certainly believe Rivers & Marty can possibly be beat, I would be warning your friend about that investment.

On the course!
The guy is not asking anyone if they like the bet, he's asking how to go about getting it down.

If this guy is willing to bet 40 grand on a game i bet his bet to my bet ration is about 40 to 1. so if you break it all the way down to the nuts and bolts its probably like me betting a quarter.

I thought the question was how to best get the bet down, not whether it was a good pick or not:shrug:  and, who is anyone to say what someone else should/shouldnt bet on a game anyway? No offense to you, just saying. I find it funny when people say that stuff, as if they have any idea what money people have......40k on a game to a millionaire is nothing. while $100 on a game to a working guy could be a lot, shouldnt that reply be in the handicapping forum or the matchup one?
