Well Blum/Boone was to be the platoon.
Now it will be 3B by committee with a revolving rotation of:
Blum
Chris Johnson(good spring)
Jason Smith(great spring and has been in out mlb for years Royals recently)
Maybe even Tejada and Pudge will see some time.

Anyway you slice this it equals bad 3B play.
Lost Wiggington and Loretta from last season.

Blum = Bum. Must have a wonderful personality to still be in the majors.
Johnson = Hacker
Smith = A under .300 OBP in AAA at the age of 30. Lmao. The dream is over hoss.

Gonna be a lonnnggg year in Texas. At least a 10 game drop off. Should trade Oswalt for some young talent.

Not worried about season yet as starting pitching has not been issue in spring which was concern.
Moehler and Hampton have pitched well.

If worry is offense then do you think Carlos Lee is going to hit .100 this season or Kaz Matsui is gonna hit .054 .

I do agree that 3B is a nightmare.
Blum hit .240 last year but did have 14 hrs and 53 rbis in 325 AB's and he will be the 8 hitter.

Lineup:
1. Bourn(improved bunting and is drawing walks.Has 8 walks this spring and 6 for 6 in SB. Only 37 walks all last year with 41 SB.
2. Pudge(10X the upgrade from Ausmus last year and with decent speed moves Kaz down in lineup where he belongs)
3. Berkman(no need to mention what he will do)
4. Lee(see Berkman)
5. Tejada(need him to improve on power numbers as his avg. was fine. Return of power is a big question.Steroids)
6. Pence(Needs plate discipline but hit 25hrs and had 83 rbis last year)
7. Kaz Matsui(did very little last year as well so how can he fall off)
8. Blum(he is nothing special but why don't you pull up the #8 hole hitters(Ausmus) for Hou the last few years and say he is not an upgrade in this spot)

Not saying they are world beaters or even playoff team but I am not giving up just because of a no hitting spring. We all know Cubs have the division won and everyone else is Wild Card chasing.

Sean Berry(hitting coach) is gonna be fired before opening day though.

All that said and the Mets are spanking them again today as I am on the same play as c20916 because of the low risk odds in spring training.

Also there have been rumors of teams offering 3B to the Astros if they are willing to take on some salary which I doubt that they are.
Cutting Backe and Boone will save them near $2Million so maybe they come up with someone.

What is your issue with that?
Former 20 game winner Russ Ortiz will take the ball.

Just kidding, but does seem odd they would be favored right now unless Oswalt was pitching which he is still on USA.
Pretty sure Pudge will be playing first game as Astro tomorrow. Not that he is a savior for the spring.

No issue for me. Stros have trouble hitting the ball and that wont win many games. And im getting a dog at that so im all over it.

On the play as well.
Quintero and Ortiz (8-9) each drive in a run in the 2nd.

That hurts as bad as Astros offense has been and you give up rbis to those 2 guys.

Astros up 2-0 top 3.

Looks like the astros will get their 2nd win.

I read after the wager that most of the regulars for the Reds didn't make the trip which would explain why they have 1 hit so far.

Yeah the Reds are playing like the Astros today.
Berkman 2 run hr may have put this one out of reach for Cincy.

well so much for that Jaque jones must have not wanted to play extra innings, they change pitchers, he swings at first pitch ground out, next guy flys out. Game over
