apparently Mike Sherman. An 11AM news conference is scheduled on campus to announce the 53 year old as the next Texas A & M coach. Currently Sherman is the Offensive Co-ordinator for the Houston Texans. He twice has served on the Aggies staff from 1989-93 and 1995-96.

Seems to me that the AD is pulling the trigger rather quick on this one. This will be his 11th hire in five years on the job. I read a few articles about AD Billy Byrne and this is his normal M.O. He hired Mark Turgeon to replace Billy Gillespie in basketball within 48 hours earlier this year.

Thought they might make a serious run at Tubs, but it looks like Byrne had his mind made up.
