it's amazing to see the royalty of the democratic party on the stage standing behind arnold on the stage.
msnbc just said that 42% of the women voted for arnold. that is amazing considering all of the accusations leveled against him.

Was Amazing AR.
I think the exit polls on this race were quite interesting. If not for the minorities it would have been huge landslide. Appears the moderate dems wholey supported the recall. Despite the LA Times,Left womens org,Willy, Jessie,Boxer and Feinstein efforts the only thing they accomplished was solidifying the hard core liberals which needed no effort.
I would hate to be in Arnolds shoes as he will have tough time following through on agenda, one reason is I don't think it is possible and the other,if it was possible the in house powers will be causing all the havoc possible for him.
Now if they made everyone from both parties that made political contribution for election donated equal amount to Cal's general fund it would have went a long way in helping.;)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Also agree with you 100% on McClintock AR. Would have been my choice also however would have done as most did and not wasted a vote when the writing was on the wall for fear of Bustamontie(spl) getting in. Did you see his little spiel at the conclusion. If you was just tuning in you'd have thought he won.

Thought Davis concession speech showed lots of character which I was pleasantly surprised.

but others did not surprise :)

"In the hotel's gilded Crystal Room, where the governor addressed the crowd, Davis' most famous supporters -- former President Bill Clinton, singer Barbara Streisand and many of the 2004 presidential candidates who had campaigned with him -- were nowhere to be seen.

Rainbow/PUSH founder Jesse Jackson was one of the few prominent Democrats who showed up early in the evening. He had earlier suggested to Fox News that some legal challenge may come from the election."

I would also say from the exit polls it's sending a message about jobs, the economy, Mexicans coming acrosse the border. None of these seems to be getting addressed by Bush. It's more then a Calf wake up call. And other govenors many republicans should pay attenion to there budgets. Folks dont like taxes up to pay for deficits.

I think the message is the moderate Dems want no part of the liberals either anymore..
Maybe we could start a new party somewhere between the far left and far right. We could have the dems the rebs and the moderates maybe.

His overwelming popularity got him in the Governer's mansion....you can argue that some of the other candidate's were "politically" better but the people spoke......I just hope he does the job for the good people of California:yup :yup

As I posted in another thread, (though certainly not mine or anyone else's ideal choice) hard for me to imagine Arnold doing a worse job than Davis. There isn't just a general dislike for Davis in California, people geniunely hate that scumbag.

So Cal
DJV you make an excellent point. Bush has done nothing to deal with many of the same problems that led to Davis's demise. We have troops doing border duty throughout the world, but not one on the California-Mexico border. Many in California feel that Bush is penalizing us because the state went for Gore. There have been several side issues where he could have helped, but failed to do so. You can be sure that if he goes in 2004, he will lose again resoundingly in California.

Meanwhile Ahnold had his first press conference and made only one statement- "PRIMARY DIRECTIVE= PROTECT JOHN CONNER."

The Davis Camp is implementing plans, as we speak, to send robots back in time to stop this Election. Their strategy seems to be: #1 Accusations of Hitlerism. #2 Accusations of Sexual Misconduct. #3 Send robots back in time to prevent the Election from occurring thereby altering the future.

Hmmm- Considering I'm a Cubs fan...

i agree with hoops

i agree with hoops

davis was apparently a disaster.....i started the thread playing off the "groping"allegations that seemed to multiply faster than rabbits on viagra.....my favorite was the one in which ahnold pulled up a lady`s blouse and took pictures of her breasts....

would someone explain how this supposedly took place.....was she sleeping?....comatose?....does ahnold have faster hands than roy jones,jr?....is she a quadraplegic stunt woman?

maybe i misread the allegation.....after all this mudslinging,i`m glad the austrian "foo-foo fondler" got the nod....

jesse ventura.....ahnold....maybe art dore of toughman fame....truthfully,anybody other than these "career" politicians...uhhh,i take that back,...at least in the case of arianna huffington......

caul-i-forn-i-a.....kinda catchy.....

I still say Mc Clintock was the best and would have voted that way.
DTB you have great idea. We have many smart folks right here at MJ's. That could be involved with a in the middle sold bring many people under one tent party. I have believed that for about 20 years now. The other parties have so much money and insiders to beat that process down. And there is the problem. But someday enough of us might just wake up many to that cause.
Arnold has the job. If he's smart he will ask Mc Clintock to serve in some capicity.

I personally find people voting for Arnie because he is not an insider to be laughable considering the insiders in his camp. To me this was another joke election, national or local, in which I had no real choice to choose from. I liked Uberroth but he dropped out due to lack of support. Oh well, hope he does a good job.

jt...

jt...

do you really think that anyone can get elected in this country without "insiders" in their camp?..i`m sure there are a few exceptions(jesse ventura?...lol)....you see how 3rd party candidates fair in our" 2 party monopoly "system of government....

it`s gonna be very interesting to see how all these legislators interact with the new governor and how difficult it will be for ahnold to get any of his initiatives through the process...i believe anything he o.k.`s can be vetoed by a 2/3 vote of the assembly and the senate....

in maryland, new governor elect ehrlich is having a horrible time getting anything done with the liberal politicos blocking everything in a vindictive backlash at him becoming the first republican governor of maryland in quite awhile....

and that door swings both ways,obviously....republican and democrat...

i will say this...ahnold isn`t a dyed in the wool conservative...he`s very moderate.....i like that...i think we need more "middle of the road"people in office...he`s very fiscally conservative....the state needs that now....but he`s also quite moderate ideologically...

but, wait till ahnold tries to lop some of the pork out of these legislator`s pantry.......

he may be a bust...seems that he`s gonna have an unfriendly legislative body to butt heads with...

it`s gonna be interesting...to say the least.
