Franky,

Guy is a good friend and shoots straight-he called in the model # or whatever trying to find out what size AC unit was. He says its a 3 ton unit. Asked me how big my house was i said around 1300 sq ft. He said its big enough.

I looked at the coils myself and they were definetely dirty. Checked any leaks for freon and he said its not leaking. So im taking his word and i trust him. He has worked on my buddys meat markets AC and also all his freezers he has. Has fixed them flor my buddy and he had no problems with his work.

3 ton is big enough maybe a little to big. Its like I said about 700 sq a ton. That depends on age and insulation. You should hose your condenser (OUTSIDE) off 2 times a year. If your evaporator coil was dirty to change you filters more often. That will be $250 bucks send it to olympic in my name. :142smilie :mj07:

What's up Ageecee?
Don't know how to help you but would say you got a hold of a pretty honest serviceman. His recommendations cost the least-- 1st thing most want to do is shoot the freon to it whether it needs it or not.
Would follow his lead--

I could of called the guy who we bought the AC from and it would of charged $60 just to come out and take a look. Now this guy might cut me a break i dont know and whatever he charges me wil be fine by me because he was worth it. The other guy never checked for freon leaks or looked at the coils.

Sportsnut13,

How about i play a game for $250 and if it hits you get half. You name the game and we are there. And you are right he did say make sure you change the filter once a month because thats where the dirt is coming from that is getting on your coils.

Sportsnut13,
My problem is on hot afternoons from 12-7. Today wasnt bad but my unit never shut off this afternoon but the temp was 75 which wasnt bad but yesterday it never shut off and the temp stayed at 80 degrees.

I dont have a clue how big or small this unit is-Do i call a AC man tomorrow and tell him to come service the unit and ask him if he thinks its big enough? How much do they charge to come service an AC unit?

Well, I guess since this is a "good buddy" as you refer to him, I wonder why you would be worried about how much they charge to service this unit

I certianley (sp?) could be wrong, but his comment about a 3 ton for 1500 sq.ft. is way off
If your house is only 1300 sq.ft., I agree with SportsN that the unit is sized incorrectly. However the unit should be "cycling" all the time and should be able to cool down to more than 75 degrees.....?
Just trying to help, but I will leave it at that

Franky,

Not really worried about what hes going to charge me-as long as he fixes the problem the charge is irrevelant. I know he wont screw me so i know the charge wil be in lin with other repairman.
