Airline Nonsense

I normally fly Continental and have a gazillion miles so I almost always upgraded so thus far I have been uneffected by all the new BS. But I am kind of curious how it works.

Say you carry on your bag but you are in row 8 and one of the last to board and the assholes ahead of you stole your bin space so you have to check your bag. Do you get charged? Who do you pay? Are you supposed to have $25 handy or is the flight attendant carrying around a credit card machine?

Or how about when you fly one of those cropdusters where all the bags have to be gate checked - do they shaft you there as well?

If you have Elite Status no you do not have to pay at all nor does your family if Gold or Plat, as for a gate checked bag I would suspect not since they have enough issues just trying to get the plane to push on time.

I think if you bring a carryon aboard they have to find a place for it. They have extra closet space they dont tell you about for just such occasions.

I would not want my carry on checked. If you have a camera, Ipod, etc it would be gone before it was loaded.

I refuse to fly them crop duster types after years ago being in a storm in one in New England.

Alot more chance of crashing in one of those. I hate flying.

US Airways to charge $2 for soda, juice, water

Better get used to carrying lots of singles next time you fly. US Airways is now terminating free drink service. No, not free mini bottles of Jim Beam and cheap Chardonnay, we're talking about all drinks, including soda, fruit juice, coffee, and bottled water, which will soon cost $2 each. Presumably tap water, which may or may not be contaminated with fecal coliform bacteria, will still be free.

The move is the latest way airlines are attempting to fight rapidly rising fuel prices in a disastrous economic climate. In recent months, the extra fees have come fast and furious. First came extra charges for your second piece of luggage, then came a charge for your first bag. That's not to mention extra fees for choosing your own seat, curbside check-in, booking using frequent flier miles, and the cost of the Santa Fe chicken sandwich.

The beverage fee is even more annoying than most, since you can no longer bring liquids through security at airports. You are really at the mercy of buying them on the plane, or at least buying them once you're in the terminal (which is doubtlessly no cheaper than on the plane). Alcoholic drinks will also go from $5 to $7. That's a lot for a can of Budweiser.

The fee goes into effect August 18, leaving plenty of time for the airlines to come up with other fees to nickel and dime their way to profitability. Can pay toilets be far behind?

the dumb ass airline industry doesnt even realize they are pricing themselves out of business.

We just wont fly as much or only when absoulutely necessary.

Dont worry about your high gas costs United, pretty soon you wont need much gas as the planes fly half full or empty.

I don't know of a better deal in the country then being able to get somewhere quick flying :shrug:
