I just got back in the country this past weekend after a trip. I was only checked once, but my mom who is in that high risk terrorist group category, u know, over 55, white, female, American, was checked and patted down several times. I'm sure glad they made sure she was not carrying any bombs or boxcutters, I know I sure felt a heck of a lot safer boarding those planes! I also found out that it is some sort of "security breach" to photograph those dorks patting people down. I thought they were going to confiscate my A-1 spy cam that was cleverly disguised as a 6 dollar disposable camera!

American Airlines SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! All of their airport employees have major attitude. Did u know that individually packed alcohol swabs are now check-in contraband? Sorry u diabetics, u can no longer check your blood sugars or give yourself insulin shots in a sterile manner while on vacation. Detergent pellets are also now akin to high nitrogen fertilizer, and don't even try to slip some bug spray onboard!

Every leg was delayed at least 30 minutes.

On one flight, a passenger was removed from the plane and then his seat totally dismantled and reassembled before the plane departed. What was up with that???? Any ideas????

The headphones now cost 2 bucks instead of being complimentary. What a joke! The most I saw purchased on any flight was 5. Great cost saving measure, American!

The snack on each flight was a miniature bag of pretzels. Talk about diversity!

Departing flights are not posted anywhere except at the gate that is posted on your boarding pass which inevetibaly has changed causing u to have to walk with a full, heavy carry-on another 1/2 mile through the airport to the new gate. This also of course means standing in line and walking thru another set of metal detectors and pat downs.

Hold ups in immigration for 3 hours when u are bringing nothing into the country but dirty clothes cause u to miss your connecting flight which in turn mandates that u can't fly out until the next day and that u must get a hotel room for the night at your own expense.

Give me Southwest ANYTIME. Hopefully, they will be flying into every airport soon, domestic and foreign. Now I know why American is in the red. They absolutely suck!

Aren't you the guy who was whining a few months ago because your granny got searched at the airport? Now you're all worked up because your ma got the patdown? Nobody else seems to complain about the security measures being taken nowadays. It might just be best if you and your family didn't fly for a while. Take that time to consider what happened on september 11th, 2001.

private petey, aren't u the stupid idiot that always chimes in some nonsensical bs? I have no problem with people getting checked, I think it should be the likely suspects, not age/gender groups who have NEVER in the history of the world hijacked an airplane.

SIXFIVE,
Dude I only have about a thousand problems with your post so I will try to be quick.
American Airlines SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! All of their airport employees have major attitude.
O.K. bro, I have an idea take a job that is seniority based, and spend years on midnight shifts with tues. wed. off and don't complain because you signed on for shift work. Work for that company we will call it Eastern for a few years only to watch a robber baron come in and sell off the assets and put you and your family on the street. All the while you don't care because Southwest has started up. Go to American and get a job. Then take concessionary wage packages because the company has convinced the public and the work force and the republican president at that time that airline deregulation will eventually strap the large airlines in the industry and that they need to implement a hub and spoke system for ease of travel. Eat those wage concessions from 1989 through 2001, for those of you playing at home that is twelve years, that you got to watch the company post record setting profits quarter after quarter, year after year, and then finally in 2001 you get a competetive wage. Keeping in mind a competetive wage is what the market sets not what someone sitting on the couch eating frit-os watching Mr. Belvidere reruns. Only to have the worst act of terrorism happen in United States soil history only a few months after your first real raise in years. Then stand idly by as you watch the company turn that into a marketing ploy to convince people that they are going broke. Now if that isn't enough to take I have to worry about what some person that most likely bought a discounted restricted ticket ask for an upgrade and then flash a AAdvantage card. It is not enough that there is a huge line standing directly behind you all wanting an aisle seat. None of which have bothered to see if their bags would fit in the overhead, or look to see what is and isn't allowed on board WHICH IS CLEARLY STATED ON EVERY TICKET. And suddenly you, the poor inconvenienced traveler is upset because you have been put out because we "the mean shitty employees of American Airlines" are doing as we are told and mandated by the government as far as security. "Personally, I could give a rats ass if some terrorist gets on board and slits your throat, because, and I have to tell you sir, I would hate for you to be put out or inconvenienced, or maybe God forbid, have to wait in line patiently for a few minutes". While we ensure your safety, you sit back and bitch. Hey guess what, the security is government mandated. Guess what else, the company has to foot that bill! But hey the government only gets around a 15% tax on your ticket, they shouldn't have to pay just get paid.
Yea you are right dude. Us bastards have nothing else on our mind except your friggin weekend travelin ass. Gimme a break. I treat everybody as equally well as they treat me. I have never had a compliant registered about me and I have been at it for well over 15 years. Understand one thing, nothing gives you the right to pile the employees into a ball and say they suck. You don't give two shits about me or how my day is going or what may or may not make me feel a little more comfortable that minute. While you have paid for a service you deserve that service to be as pleasant as possible but dont think for a minute that I decided to charge for headphones, handout soggy turkey sandwiches, but let me ask you what did you pay for your headset at Southwest? Oh didn't get offered one?
Customs is a whole different story, we have no control over that, so with you being the epitome of an impatient traveler may I suggest that the next time you want to jet off to Bermuda or wherever, may I suggest you look around you and see that there are alot of people doing alot of things and all of them have families and problems of their own. Yet every day they get to read how it them that is the cause of a comopany running itself into the ground due to bad management, labor costs are outrageous, heard that before? Did you go out and read up on it to see the truth, or did you go to orbitz dot com and buy a discount ticket, catch a flight and get delayed a halfo hour or so and then came home to say that the entire workforce and company of 122,000 people worried about their jobs and livelihood SUCK.

Sixfive, just to let you know how the airlines don't discriminate, my 10 year old daughter got the complete shakedown last year while on her way to a cruise with one of her buddies. I think it was United. I don't think she falls into the high risk category either.

FDC, I guess it would be safe to assume that you work for AA. My ex-wife just married a pilot for AA and moved to Lewisville taking my daughter with her. For my sake, I hope all is well with that company as the only way I get to see her every other weekend is because of the free flight benefits. I would hate to be working for that company right now as everything you hear on the news is gloom and doom. Good Luck

SixFive,
I happen to agree with you on most of your points. I don?t mind being delayed if it helps security but some of these ?measures? the government/airlines have implemented are truly ridiculous. I saw an 80+ year old man have to practically strip down right before he boarded the plane?and then the idiot ?security? guard (who probably makes 6.50/hr and works for a subcontractor) try to rush him back on the plane. Poor man didn?t know what article of clothing to put back on 1st.

To those who say remember 9-11?. I say?yes remember and also remember who the perpetrators of those heinous acts were. I don?t believe in using that terrible event to justify everything "security" wishes to impose on us.

The point about AA employees?I believe ?fatdaddycool? just validated your statement. He seems so bitter about his job. If you hate your job as much as you sound like?may I suggest a different career? Dealing with and helping customers is part of being in the service industry. Who cares where I bought my ticket? How about some respect for the customers also? If you don?t like dealing with people, perhaps working the ticket counter is not for you. While SixFive only dealt with a few AA employees and they provided him with a negative experience. Those employees represent AA and that is what SixFive has to go on.

And yes, I do prefer Southwest to AA.

Blitz and 65:

Yep, we oughta be checkin all dem dar thick mustachiod middle eastern lookin types. You guys are brilliant. Ever think about applyin for a job in the Bush administration.

Other than your so, so, obvious bigotry, do you really think that if a group of terrorists wanted to pull of another 9-11 they would go to Mohammed Atta's arabic cousin and say..."hey Omar, heres your box cutter and a one way ticket on Delta flight 232."

Idiots. I frankly would be more suspicious of the 50 year old white lady from Bowling Green carrying the Nieman Marcus shopping bag. Watch out boys your racism is showing.

call it racism if u will, eddie, it's Muslim extremists of the male gender who are perpetrating these suicide attacks. I'll stand corrected as soon as a middle age white/black/hispanic/asian woman blows herself up in a crowded subway or hijacks a plane. Eddie, u should also be somewhat proud of me. I was out of the country working with a surgical team in the third world country of Haiti, not on the beaches of Bermuda as fdc suggested. See, I'm not the cold hearted greedy bastard u thought I was. I love to give what I have been blessed with and I have been rewarded greatly for doing so.

fdc, u might have been one of the pricks I ran into! Do u work in Miami, Dallas, or Nashville?? Chill out, I'm just relating my experiences. I could care less about a robber baron or whatever it is you're talking about. If it sucks so bad to be u at your job at American, I'm sorry. I also didn't understand your comment on Orbitz (tickets were purchased in a big group). Also, if u knew me, u would find out I'm as patient as they come, I just can't stand stupidity, apathy, and power trippers. It doesn't hurt anybody who is in a service type industry to be nice and to smile. Also, I never so much as opened my mouth to say anything to these jerks other than pleasantries which were not returned, and I never once bitched or complained. Also, this is not my first bad experience with American; I have had many others. They are not happy working there, and u have proved u are not either. American does fly about everywhere, so I guess I'm stuck using them. BTW, is American unionized and Southwest not?

Hey JT, I think it's best if you join 65 on the sidelines when it comes to air travel. Bad attitudes are not appreciated right now at this critical juncture. Fatdaddy, you are right on target. Some of these guys just aren't taking this thing seriously.
I think the best way to shape up the malcontents would be to cancel the ticket of anybody who acts up. The thought of having to buy another ticket might derail any thoughts of causing trouble. Then there could be a 1 year cooling off period, where after 1 year of acceptable behavior at the airports, the person would get credit for the cost of the ticket that was confiscated. This idea could also help out the struggling airlines with an extra revenue stream.

Yep sixFive, guess I'd be frustrated too! FDC- You are a better man that me as I couldn't deal w/the public especially on the job. Edward I don't think name calling is appropriate as we are just having our say. Suprised you'd be stereotyping especially regarding the Bush Administration, see following-

http://www.newsmaxstore.com/nms/showdetl.cfm?&DID=6&ObjectGroup_ID=55&Product_ID=1005&af_id=98

But maybe your'e right. Hope we are looking for Bin Laden in Iceland & Taiwan- not just Middle Eastern countries.

Private, (Where the F*ck are we), Petey, You could use the same patience in dealing w/other MJ'ers. At least SixFive got to the right place, i.e., United States and not United Arab Emirates.
Please spell my name right when draggin it thru the mud.

Gentlemen,
First let me say I am NOT one of the PRICKS you ran into. I don't work at the ticket counter. As I stated earlier my ex wife and a good majority of my friends do. My position is in the overhaul facility. I overhaul rolls royce motors. However my main position is with the Union as I have a full time elected position with them and rarely go back to the box any more. But that only goes to show that the only person that actually read what I was trying to say was P. Petey. Heres the deal boys.

Your dealings with the employees of american are isolated and rare. If you got a little bit of attitude I apologize. I never said I didnt like my job, I do. I don't however enjoy the politics and the propaganda that go along with it. The company is trying to break the unions and the public is either unaware of the impact that would have on the economy or has their collective head up their collective asses. Now when you are watching you Mom get patted down for the second or third time and you give the little head shake of the sneer of disapproval or even say nothing and just sigh with disgust, imagine catching that crap 100 fold every day. My problem with your post was simply that you don't stop to consider what those people are going through at this juncture in their life, and maybe a smile is deserved but so is a little compassion the other way. Those men and women at the gates deal with hundreds of people a day. Many don't speak english and it is hard to communicate, wearing on ones patience. Sometimes the agent will make the announcement "If your already have a seat assignment you don't need to check in", guess how many people then get in line or stay in line to ask "is this a seat assignment?'' Well hell yea lady that is generally what 23d means. But you refrain and let your patience, that you sixfive were so short of in your story, continue to frazzle. "Group 1 only to board" guess how many you times you have to repeat that Six? Guess how many times my wife was called a c**t because she wouldn't pull the jetbridge back up and delay 200 people so the AAdvantage Platinum could make his flight. guess how many people are late for a flight and delay it because they spent too much time in the bar. You made a generalization and included all employees and they are probably going through some of the roughest time in their lives and all you cared about was being delayed. Yea you are right I am a Prick, if that is what you call someone who doesn't think like you. yessir sign me up. You see I don't sign on to that one sided pleasantness. I am not saying you were unpleasant, yet did you go out of your way to be nice because you damn sure expected it.

not isolated and rare, this has happened the last 3 out of 3 times I have flown American. I check in at least 2 hours early always. I listen for my group and get up and board when it is called. I'm sure it would get old dealing with dumb people all day, but that's just the way it is if u have that job.

I'm with u on your point if somebody is drinking at the bar and is late, they shouldn't be waited on. That however is not me.

I don't feel like my head is up my ass, but I still don't understand your point on the unions. I plead ignorance there. I'm also sure there are many great employees with American and I did generalize; however, that was my experience. Cheers.

AA, BM, the TSA folks were very nice. We had to open the checked bags for them a few times, and they were very pleasant and reasonable.

Chanman:

When you do a link to an article to prove your point may I suggest you let us know the source. I never heard of the editor of the article you cited so I threw his name up on ole Yahoo and came up with this:

"Best known for "exposes" on Vince Foster's death and the supposed murder of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, Ruddy is a favorite of conservative financier Richard Mellon Scaife - and a charter member of Hillary's famous "vast right wing conspiracy." The dirt-digger has also expanded his network, conveying skullduggery updates to Clinton haters everywhere via Web site newsmax.com and his own newsletter."

Next time you want to support a conservative position, why don't you quote Rush, G-man, Billy Buckley or some other objective person. Please, you can get anti-Clinton quotes from the National Review or from a million other sources. Just don't try to pass them off as the word of God.
