inititally i considered akron but decided to pass. whats weird is that for as bad as they played early on, they still technically control their own destiny in the mac east. they get miami and marshall at home later on this season and theyre sitting at 2-1 in the mac right now. if things break right, they can be 4-1 in the mac before hosting marshall on espn in a few weeks.

here are some akron articles that might help you:

Well, Charlie will be out there for sure, but will it matter? The Zips have not fared well in their past trips to the Citrus Bowl, and that may be a trend that continues.

UCF (0-5) is coming of a really tough loss to NIU, in which they learned that they can hang with one if the better teams in the MAC. QB Moffett is coming off a career best game, and I am sure that the Knights will be ready to try to break the ice vs. Akron. If Akron had any effective running game at all I could justify a play here because UCF can't defend it, but I just can't see Akron moving the chains on the ground.

It's a match up of two really bad teams, and I see a couple of better spots on the board so I' Ill pass on this one, but hope the Zips can muster a victory.

Pass for me, Zips are way too erratic and UCF has a mess at the skilled positions. Zips should win with the better offense but their defense is pretty weak.

BTW: Don't be lead into thinking that the Zips really got it all going in their 20 pt win over the Bulls. They had a kick return for the distance and only outgained Buffalo by 60 yards in total offense.

FWIW: I've been to 2 UCF games this year; W. Vir.& N. Illinois. UCF could have folded after the INT. return for a TD right before the half. But they came out & put up 28pts. on N. Ill. in the 2nd. half, & held them to 3 FG's.They can compete against Akron & I know they won't quit.I'll say UCF 31-24.
Daughter is on the color guard. so I'll enjoy the halftime at least. GL guys.
