Just got home, ok, after drinking three double crowns at a bar:facepalm:
I went to Pratt city, a lower income community in birmingham that was hit with the storms. I went through so much rubble and clean up and then, a volunteer found a 5 yr old dead. At that point I fell apart like a nickle mop. Was a very emotional day and I am so proud of our community for everyone that has pitched in to help in the cause. Is great to see people pulling together from all walks of life from all races and economic statures. I feel blessed that my family was not harmed from this tradgedy. I am very at peace feeling and knowing that people care and pull together for the common good of man. :0008

yo buddy, BLESS YOU for volunteering with this tragedy:0074

you probably are not on Facebook but there is a site called Toomers for Tuscaloosa and they have over 70,000 people on this page ... they have raised millions in donations and help with volunteering, deliveries, cleanup etc....

and their avatar is so cool... it is a big A and the left side is crimson and the right side is orange and blue... we fight and argue 364 days a year for the Iron Bowl BUT when something like this disaster happens, it is totally AMAZING how everyone comes together to help each other out no matter, color, sex or even more team allegiances... :0074

If you would like to donate money directly to Tuscaloosa, you can do so through Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. 100% of the money goes to the Tuscaloosa community. Look for the PayPal link. http://www.calvarytuscaloosa.org/tornadorelief/give.html

Just donated $100.00 to the Five Points Baptist Church! All donations go to Tuscaloosa, Alabama! http://www.fivepointsbaptist.com/tornado

Those are just a few that I picked up real quick that are going directly to the people in such dire needs!!!

deep south
small town where I have been living for the past month is smithville, ms which was hit by an F-5 tornado wednesday at 4pm. it destroyed (not tore up but destroyed)the whole town as 90% of town is in a area 2 miles long by 1 mile wide and tornado came straight down main street. no business are left and every home in town has damage if it is even there.

my father in law passed away about 6 weeks ago and he had a cattle right on the city limits sign and I was working there trying to get equipment ready for a auction we were going to have in june.
at 3 pm I let the farm hand who helps me go home as he has a 10 year old step daughter and told him he needed to go and be with her as she would be scared at home by herself after she got off bus (tornado warning sirens had already gone off 8 times). I was in house washing dishes and had tv on local channel and they said a tornado was on the ground about 20 miles from smithville and heading straight for smithville. and you had less than 10 minutes to get to your safe place. I went outside and in the southwest the sky was black but to the northwest it was lighter. I asked myself should I stay and wait on tornado and ride it out or head to another town not in tornado path. I jumped in my car and headed to the bright sky looking in my rear view mirror and seeing the sky grow darker. made a 12 mile loop and headed back to Smithville where sky had brightened up and go almost back to town when several sheriff car passed me with lights flashing.
when I go to town it was total destruction and people bleeding walking around and some bodies in fields and some people in bad shape.
Tornado killed 15 and do not see how it was not a lot higher but lucky it was not a hour later when people were home from work.
we were lucky at my father in law's as on had a 6" tree through the eve of house and windows broken out and several holes in roof, shop had a lot of damage , barn about destroyed and 25 huge pecan trees uprooted.

These can be dropped off at the Sheriff?s Office at 2985 Camp Road in Jasper. The phone number there is (706)-253-8900

I am from AL and at first wanted to do something for the people there, but then realized that there are a bunch of folks in GA needing help too. Took a load of supplies to this location today. Seems like a good place for anyone in North GA wanting to donate food, cleaning supplies, pet food, clothing, etc. It is amazing when you see an old man in an old truck that had gone somewhere and loaded it up with bottled water to do the only thing that he knew to do to help.

Above the Clouds....
Just talked to my son who's at Fort Gordon and a few of the guys got deployed to help. He told me the devastation was unbelievable (of course we knew that) but he said there were houses with the roofs torn off and still magazines on the tables. Weird shit.
