Hero? He's defending a position of power, a position which allows him and all his cohorts to tread upon a whole civil society and maintain their corrupt self-serving ideals in place. Hell, it ain't even ideals, just a position of power.
Does he represent the civil society existent in Iraq, or is he just another radical sumbitch idiotized by the words of poisoned leaders? Who's to know? But I guarantee you one thing, certain segments of Iraq's civil society were happy to see the poor slob killed.

Why do you folks believe everyting must be black or white? Why is the guy a hero? Wa he a hero when he and his buddies gassed thousands of inocent civilians, children, to death in the name of the established "system"? Was he a hero when he hid behind innocent women and children as the "invading" forces attacked so he could get of some sniper shots?
When will we stop listening only to the radical minority and take them as the official "voice" of a society? Certainly in Iraq the radicals are extremely vociferous but to say that they represent the wishes and desires of the vastness of people is quite a stretch.
I know of people, regular normal people, from Africa andS. America who, along with many, many other "paisans" wish the U.S. or somebody would "invade" their country and get rid of the scum that holds power there. Countries where the leaders constantly use an anti-american, anti-imnperialist speech to rally their goons around them and distract from the fact that they are the real invaders, doing such to their own people, in their own communities. Are these bastard heroes becasue they stand up against the U.S.?
My friends say that their way of thinking is shared by the majority of their people. Do they want the U.S. to occupy their countries forever? Hell, no. But such is the balance of power that they are effectively incapable of creating a significant change on their own. When 100 people are killed on a simple single weekend in one city with no apparent reason, and this goes on and one and on and you want me to be knocked down backwards when a dozen or two die in a week during a war?
Innocent people burning in Iraq does not equate to innocent people burning on 9-11. Unless of course you get off on people being killed for the fun of it or if you are a racist and think that all browns are alike. In either case, you are an absolute moron. What if that was your son or daughter getting killed? Psycho.
