but,i think you got the skins situation backwards in the first 2 weeks.....everybody faded the skins vs arizona(i had them) and i think this is the spot to fade them....as you have said before, this offense is not as good as the pre-season has led everyone to believe(although stephen davis is a concern)....and philly is in an unenviable spot here with a potential 0-2 start....i harken back to last year with philly losing to the rams in week one by 3,then bouncing back to humble seattle in seattle 27-3...philly did not lose 2 in a row last year..and i like their secondary vs the fun and gun...i expect several turnovers from shane matthews...i got this when it opened at 1.5 and i like it alot....you get the best road team in football(all due respect to the jets),in an important game ....at first glance,i think the average guy sees spurrier at home getting 3 and love`s it....i don`t think it`s that easy......i missed your write-ups this week and love your info...but,we will have to disagree on this one...if this were played later in the year,i think the skins would be a much tougher play against......g.l.

i agree with you somewhat,...

but i still think WAS will slowley piss of the eagles, and find some way to win, i am an eagles fan, and they are overated this year, and i have been saying that before pre-season, when people were picking them to go to the superbowl, i lust dont see them making this game happen.

donovan will break out, and still pick up a loss, like Nolan said the eagles will not be able to keep up with the scoring

my prediction, eagles will outplay the redskins
redskins will win:rolleyes:

good luck to ya

***What this forum is all about is discussion and coming to an agreement on certain points -- if that's possible. I welcome your opposite point of view. Let me consider what you say and give you my point of view, as well.

as you have said before, this offense is not as good as the pre-season has led everyone to believe(although stephen davis is a concern)

***Big key here is Stephen Davis. I thought Spurrier pass-happy attack would go at the expense of Davis and the running game, but Spurrier seemed to find the right mix last week, using Davis effectively. I also like that Spurrier went after the DBs who showed weakness later in the game. This is defintely a vertical passing game (no more of that West Coast offense bullsh*t), which WILL produce points, unless Matthews has a bad game. In my estimation it's not a matter of if the Redkins will produce points, it's CAN THE EAGLES KEEP UP WITH THEM? If this game was in Philadelphia, no way I would play Washington. But here at home on MNF, there's going to be a festive atmosphere.

....and philly is in an unenviable spot here with a potential 0-2 start....

***I would thank that would be a motivator for the Eagles, but look at "great" teams like St. Louis and Pittsburgh, which were in the same situation -- AT HOME facing tough opponents. Both lost outright. Here, we are GETTING POINTS. Just because a good team "needs" to win, does not guarantee it will happen. I think that translates into Washington playing looser, and Philadelphia being a bit more uptight for this contest.

i harken back to last year with philly losing to the rams in week one by 3,then bouncing back to humble seattle in seattle 27-3.

***That Seattle team was awful. They started Hasselback, and then brough in some other stiff. Seahawks might as well have not shown up. Another thing -- Washington's defense is better than Seattle's defense, and this game is on MNF, so I don't think the comparison carries much weight.

..philly did not lose 2 in a row last year..and i like their secondary vs the fun and gun

***Decent point about the Eagles secondary. That is a concern. But that's why the Stephen Davis factor becomes big. IF Eagles play the pass, Davis should run free. I'm now to the point where I know Spurrier has a creative enough mind to make things happen. I'm not saying it's a lock, but this coach will give you your money's worth on offfense. Not many coaches you can say that about anymore (certainly not the flakey Rams).

...i expect several turnovers from shane matthews...i got this when it opened at 1.5 and i like it alot....

***At -1.5 that is a much stronger play for the Eagles. Obviously, I am basing this on a line of +3.

you get the best road team in football(all due respect to the jets),in an important game

***I do very much like Andy Reid and his preparation. Eagles wil be ready for this game, I'm sure. It's just that I expect it to be close, where 3 points could be the difference.

....at first glance,i think the average guy sees spurrier at home getting 3 and love`s it.

***Not sure about that. The lie did move in favor of Eagles -- openned at -1 and went to -3. My first reaction too, was PLAY PHILADELPHIA, because I figured the Redskins would finally face a decent defense this week and struggle. Then, I realized that emotion could play a big role, and when the line moved to +3 that was enough for me. These two teams ALWAYS play close, hard-fought games. +3 is huge.

...i don`t think it`s that easy......i missed your write-ups this week and love your info..

***I had a bad week. So, perhaps you are right to fade my analysis. :)

.but,we will have to disagree on this one...if this were played later in the year,i think the skins would be a much tougher play against..

***Fair points -- and if this game were in Philadelphia, I'd play the Eagles. Also, I expetct to play the 49ers big next week. I thinik they will roll over Washington no matter what happens in this game.

nolan dalla,

what do you think about the total in this game, i have been burned by so many unders in all sports this year, and a lot of people are thinking under in this game (believe it or not)

i am thinking over>> davis will open up the passing game even more, for less passes, for more yards

but prior meetings i have watched, have been brutal sloppy punters dueles, i know this is a different Wash. team,

but,,,

would like your opinion, cuz i know you have probelly put a lot of time in to have a no play on the total.

thanks

thanks for the response

thanks for the response

wasn`t calling you out...just know that i can get very valid opposing analysis from someone like yourself....helps me decide how to gauge my opinion on this game...good argument....i promised myself i would shy away from playing against the eagles and jets on the road this year...i don`t particularly like the eagles at home(but,it will depend on the situation)..... .....thanks again for the help...g.l.

can not wait for the kick off tonite... Philly-Washington is always a good fight... and this season with Spurrier it should be a great game.

I love the way Spurrier thinks... he is always looking for an edge, even in a game where he is clearly the underdog. He will make adjustments to keep the game close... the question is: Can Andy Reid do the same??

Good luck to all..

I dont think that

I dont think that

(using the 0-2 theory) the Rams nor Steelers wanted to start season off 0-2 either, and they were the chalk SB pix ....

that said, I am betting eagles small, hehe

gl, nfl crushed me again: pitt/tenn/rams
