I talked to a guy last summer at a car show that was sitting in front of his Ford F250. A friend of mine knew him and I asked him whats the deal with this truck with all the classic cars. He basically told me it is what is under the hood. I can't remember everything he did, but he took a stock diesel engine, cranked up the injector pump, put another chip in, and is running propane gas mixed with the diesel fuel. He said he takes it down to the local drag strip on grudge night and takes all the money from the hot shots in their souped up mustangs and camaros. Not even close. Don't know what he runs, but am guessing something close to this guy.

U-T do they still put a Navistar engine in those Fords?

i believe so, I had the last year model that had the 7.3 liter in it, they said these new 6.0 liter powerstrokes have some bugs in them still, waiting until they work those out before I get another one, but im pretty sure they are still navistar.....loved my 7.3, sucker was bulletproof in stock form while my turbo was tuned to 29 PSI (stock setting from the factory is 12PSI--Ford sends out these diesels very de-tuned)

UT I am a GM man from way back but that Navistar powerplant would sway me to Ford if I ever buy a 4x4. As an old farm boy, I learnt the value of the International Harvester Diesel engines at an early age. The DT414 was a superb ag unit back in those days, and has been used in a multitude of Navistar trucks and buses. The Interstate Battery Companies delivery trucks have logged millions of miles on this engine. Navistar Diesel technology, enough said .

Nice truck, man !

Pet, my dad use to have one of those 454SS trucks and the gas mileage is worse than lowsy. You could actually watch the gas gauge move when you were driving it hard. Plus, I am not aware that it ever came in a 4X4 version.

My dad now has the same truck the Dr. posted, except his black on black. He only drives it on weekends. Rough life. It is a sweet truck and would think you would be much happier with one of those than that 454SS. If you need the power, get one with the Cummins diesel. That is what I have and it will pull a house off of its foundation if you want it too.

thanks Doc and Crunch, you are right about 4x4 Crunch and
about that car in the picture, not available here....

There are two -91 454SS for sale here and prices are around $14000 for cars with mileage less than 50000 miles. How this compares to your prices over there ? I don't mind about that mpg, i don't drive that much anyway.

Thanks
