Hawkeye--

You need to go to the top of the page you are viewing and click on profile. Then, click on edit options. Then find the avatar option in the middle of the page-- it should be on yes, but if not, change it to yes. Then go to the bottom of that page, find avatar and click on that-- on page 8-- it will then let you browse thru the avatars-- just find the Hawkeye logo, click the circle, click save and you are flying the colors.

Ferdville-

Yes, speed kills, but you obviously haven't seen Iowa play at all if you think SC is faster than Iowa. Football games are won at the line of scrimmage, and Iowa's offensive line is the best in the country-- Dallas Clark won the award as the best tight end in the country last night, as did Nate Kaeding for best place kicker.
And I haven't seen a team in the Pac-10 play defense yet this season- and you can skip that "performance" of SC's against a totally outmatched Notre Lame squad. Too bad it took all year to have that crappy team exposed for the pretenders they were. At least the BS, er BCS thing didn't let them in. Iowa wins and wins easily. Hope whatever tout you are paying these days for your picks steers you in the right direction in this one......

Hawkeye-

Always a pleasure to help out a Hawk fan and fellow Iowan......:toast:

No depth is the biggest problem with the hoops team. Only 8 guys on scholarship and two true freshman starting and playing significant minutes. Talent is so-so--but I think the two freshman, Brunner and Horner, should turn into solid all Big-10 players by the time they are done.

Look to fade the Hawkeyes early and often this hoops season and make some easy $$$.

Go Hawks!

So Cal
Redsfan - I did see Iowa play more than once. They do not have the speed that USC has, especially on defense. Can't remember alot of Big 10 teams that match up speed wise with Pac 10 teams. Of course, all of this will be decided in the game. I'll make you a proposition - if USC wins, you take a USC avatar for 3 months, 6 months, or a year. If Iowa wins, I'll take the avatar of your choice for the same time. I know you won't want any points because you obviously feel you won't need them. Not my fault that Notre Dame was exposed as you say by the Trojans. I guess it was lucky that USC never had to tangle with the likes of Northwestern, Indiana or some of those MAC teams that Iowa fed on. Regardless of what happens, it should be the most entertaining bowl game of the bunch. Glad your concerned that the tout I pay for my picks goes with the right side here. I already played the game because I think the price will only go steeper.

For those of you not going to the SB party, I think redsfann had the best idea. The bet is a straight up bet (no points, since I don't give a crap if USC wins by 2 or 20, as long as they win).

Losers must display the winner's avatar for the rest of January or 30 posts, whichever comes LAST. I don't want anyone getting tricky and avoiding posting for a month just so they can avoid showcasing the winners' school. Being the gentleman that I am, I will even have Jack put up the Hawkeye logo in place of the picture of Chioma and me on my Free Picks page for the rest of January should the unthinkable happen. In return, all I ask from Iowa fans is that they add the final score of the game to all of their posts when USC wins.

Also, I want to make sure everyone is a true fan of the team they are rooting for, so you have to display your own school's avatar from today (or whenever you read this post) until the start of April if you win.

So far here are the folks involved in the bet for the REAL National Championship:

USC: Nick Douglas (ferdville?)

Iowa: BahamaMama, redsfann, hawkeye, joebell (Scott-Atlanta?)

If Scott-Atlanta and ferdville want to join the fun, they can make the avatar change whenever they read this and pony up.

If there are any other USC alums who want to Fight On For Old 'SC, Fight On For Victory, Our Alma Mater Dear will be grateful because It's Up To You to watch them Fight On And Win For Old 'SC and Fight On For Victory. Of course, if there are any other Iowans that want a piece, post something in this thread, add the avatar and join up.

Nick--

Nick--

Count me in....:)

Like the part of the rest of January for the friendly wager or 30 posts, whichever comes later. Will force me to post some basketball picks in the unlikely event Iowa loses to your vastly over-rated football squad...... ;)

I'm in!!!!!

I was glad to see Palmer win the Heisman if Banks wasn't going to win it. For one the Heisman winner typically has a bad bowl game and two, I think it will give Iowa's defense a little extra motivation to stop Palmer since the whole team really respects Banks.

I read an article that a Fiesta bowl rep was pissed off that the Orange Bowl took USC and IOWA because it's taken the spotlight off the Fiesta because it pits the best match-up and #1 and #2 in the Heisman.

My prediction IOWA 38 USC 31

I didn't know Oklahoma State was playing in the Fiesta Bowl. That is the REAL OSU.

The Buckeyes are nothing but a footnote on history's ass at this point. Who really remembers the team that got their ass whooped by the national champ? The team I feel sorry for is Miami because their spotlight is taken away by having to play the fifth best team in the country.

And may we please have a moratorium on all Buckeyes fans posting garbage about how great their team is until *after* January 3rd? Either that or a rule that every brainless post made by a Buckeyes fan before that game has to be matched by an equal number of posts apologizing for their behavior after the game and admitting that they were not the second best team in college football this year.

Fritz,

Glad to see you come aboard.

redsfann,

That is good that you have made lemonade out of the lemon the Hawkeyes are going to lay in Miami :D
