At least we know protesting and rioting is the vaccine
for coranavirus. If they only knew this before they spread all the fear and panic.

If these guys want to kneel, great. Knock yourselves out.

But when Drew Brees says he will stand with hand over heart to honor his grandfathers who fought in WWII, he's now not sympathetic to the "movement"? Fuck that.

AND he gets brow beat to apologize? Fuck that again!!

If you're black, and I disagree with you, I am automatically a racist. I cant just be in disagreement.

Frankly, I'm tired. I'm tired of hearing how ashamed I should be for being white. I'm tired of being the reason, as a race, you haven't been able to make something of yourselves in 400 years. Why aren't Asians protesting? Hispanics?

The one question that rarely gets asked of black Americans:

"What have you done to better your life?"

If they have a good answer for that, you probably aren't seeing them marching in the streets.

Spot on. YYZ 2020

Yeah, that is sooooo a misrepresentation of what Drew Brees said. If he had been asked what he planned to do during the national anthem and he said what you indicated - it's a non-story. But that's not remotely what happened. He was asked what he thought about kneeling during the anthem now - and how the NFL and him as a leader in the NFL should respond. To which he said "I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America" which is - and always has been - a false equivalency.

I'm sorry you're tired of hearing about all of this inequality. Imagine how hard it is to actually have to live with it everyday.

The thread asking "what do the protestors and rioters want resolved?" gets a response about how hard it is for white people and that gets a chorus of amens.

Pretty soon Hedgie will be along to agree with you - then you'll know for sure you're on the wrong side of this.

At a local level, they want at least police reform (including both greater accountability and transparency). Some want the police completely defunded, if not outright disbanded.

At the federal level, they want congress to take up meaningful legislative action and not just send a couple tweets and move on. Ending qualified immunity would be a good start.

At the presidential level, they want acknowledgment that the problem exists and that he's making it a priority to address.

There has been some traction on the first - the second will be harder and takes longer - and the third has no chance with the current occupant.

I think the early protests were fueled by anger and frustration. Over the last week it has picked up so much steam that right now it is carrying on under its own inertia. And it's just a reality that the unemployment rate is 13.3% overall and 16.8% for black americans. That's a lot of people who currently have a lot of free time on their hands. Some basically view protesting as their new job - at least for now.

We're 5 months away from another extraordinarily divisive presidential election, at a time when the whole country is already a simmering pot of cabin fever. The Romans built the Colosseum so that the sport there would distract the people from revolting. Well there's no sports right now either. This thing isn't slowing down - it's ramping up.

well said

you should be tired, you are retired. calm down and enjoy yourself. there is much in this world that you (in particular) will never understand. i shall refer you to the 'serenity prayer' for the peace that you can obtain.

The point of the protests is to raise awareness of how police treat minorities unfairly. There are plenty of distractions and sidebars from the core message, yet it all boils down to prejudice and mistreatment from the cops. If you are not aware of this mistreatment, you are living in shade. As stated earlier in this thread, there?s proportionately more ignorance among rural Americans, and those prejudices are often times handed down generation after generation. It?s time to try harder to break this heartless cycle.

You are a 55-year-old white man. You wake up in your bed and think, ?It?s Wednesday. Oh yeah, I lost $110 on the Phillies under last night. Fuck. Oh well, am I playing 18 or 36 today??

You are black 19-year-old, you wake up in your bed and think, ?I need to drive my sister to work. I need to apply for more jobs because no one is calling me back for an interview. I hope I don?t get pulled over. I hope I don?t get pulled over.?

Instead of whining about social media and fake news and shitty CNN and snowflakes, more people need to turn off their television and maybe read a book, talk to others in your community about what?s going on. Yeah, what the fuck black people! You?ve had 400 years to turn this shit around! Oh yeah, sorry it only took 340 years before you were allowed to drink water from the white man's fountains.

I'm just happy everything is right, now, Murph. It's been a long road, and I'm glad everyone will be on equal footing in short order.

That's the spirit! Way better than that race war the 'old you' itched for. I still owe you $20 for helping me fill gas tank 10 years ago btw. I never forget, :toast:

Hold the phone, Sarge. Seeing one coming, and wanting one are two different animals.

I'll be asking Donny to "scootch over" in the bunker if it comes to be.

And if I recall correctly, you gave me a ride. Filling the tank was better than a taxi.

People helping people.........The American way.

I?m just curious... what did Obama do when he was ?the president?.... :0003

I'm curious why you think that's relevant at all? The black president didn't fix racism so don't ask the white president to try?

But to directly answer your question - not nearly enough.

He did absolutely nothing on police reform - which is the thing that is needed first and foremost - and should not be a right or left issue. Do you know who has had the most contempt for police over the last 50 years? Libertarians on the right. Others have correctly pointed out that one of the main reasons it's so hard to get rid of bad cops is because of the strength of their unions - and union rights have long been part of the Democratic platform. Both parties have been all too happy to take checks from police Super PACs and let business as usual continue.

All you need to do is look at the "Buffalo 57" situation. Two cops get suspended when video surfaces of them pushing a 75-year-old man down. They were not arrested or even fired - just suspended. And 57 other officers quit the emergency response team. That is how allergic the police force is to even the whiff of accountability.

2 of the officers who resigned from the team tried to clarify that it wasn't about solidarity with the suspended officers. Except their clarification is arguably worse. "We quit because our union said [they] aren't legally backing us anymore. So, why would we stand on a line for the city with no legal backing if something [were to] happen?"

In other words - they'd be legally responsible for their actions and would be on their own if they got charged. You know - like all the rest of us are all the time. And they can't handle that. That should concern all of us.

First off they didn?t push him down..... they shoved him and he did a nice little soap opera job falling back.... this bozo was an antifa agitator... I don?t care how old you are..... if the fuckng cops tell you to move and you don?t move... they will move you....

You guys have a hard time understanding that if a cop tells you to do something, you fucking do it..... if you resist arrest... your going to get your ass beat.... if you run from the cops, your going to get your ass beat.... sounds like all the sudden you guys have a problem with that..... it?s like you guys want the police to get there and have a Rosey conversation....

If we resist arrest you should just let us go.... don?t fight back with us..... if we run from you... just run along side of us and try and help us understand..... but don?t tackle me and shove my head into the ground.... I was just trying to run from you after I robbed the corner store... fuck the police anyways... why are you even here on the streets? We don?t Want the police.....

The ghettos can police themselves..... that?s why everyone wants to go to the ghetto... they feel safe..... members of the community keep things really nice as well...clean streets.... no graffiti anywhere... only a few gang members... no crack heads half naked on the street begging for June bug to open up in the alley... no hookers anywhere walking around fucking in the alleys... we love the ghetto... there?s so much to do here.... The residents really care about their neighborhoods and where they live... every time something is donated to the community it never goes to shit.... everyone loves coming to the ghetto.... I don?t know what it is but it?s just so positive around the ghetto.... All the nice restaurants want to be in predominantly black neighborhoods.... you can find some really nice shops in the ghetto as well.....

Change the fuckkg ghetto and the residents who make a ghetto what a ghetto is before you worry about anything else..... Jesus fuckng Christ
