Why?
Their sorter had wood railings. As part of the new Food Modernization Act, there can be no wood.
This also applies to the wooden picking crates - they are all being transitioned to large plastic crates.
New machine is all stainless.
For orchards only growing to sell at their own roadside stands, this is not required but for larger orchards, these new rules apply and go into effect in 2013 in Ohio. They are already in effect in MI and IN.
