Congratulations :mj07: I was just stating my opinion on what I feel is a karaoke contest. I can't argue if you put 15 dimes in your pocket. Something tells me you are a karaoke fan? I'm guessing about 5'3 115? :mj07: I didn't know you were so sensitivo - sorry bro :142smilie
All kinds - Beastie Boys, Greatful Dead, The Clash, Widespread Panic, Beatles, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, R.E.M, Velvet Revolver, The Cult...I could go on and on, but hope that helps - Not a big Asian Karaoke guy though :142smilie

ok, I lied... I have money on Blake to win...
Here's how I looked at it: American Idol encompasses 3 things:
1. Singing ability
2. Physical Attractiveness
3. Personality.
I never agreed that American Idol is a "singing competition". If so, it'd be called America's best singer. And people don't vote for the best singer - Taylor Hicks never would have won last year if that was the case.
So, breaking down the contestants:
Jordin Sparks:
1. Best Singer, IMO. No question.
2. Attractiveness. Very cute, especially when she straightens her hair. But she hasn't taken this competition seriously in that she is about 50 pounds overweight. She has the arm fat of a 60 year old woman. You'd think her dad was the a nose tackle, not a cornerback.
3. Personality - awesome personality.
Melinda Doolittle:
1. Good singer, possibly great.
2. Attractiveness. No, not at all. Unless you like Mr. Ed (she has a horse like appearance, minus having a neck, of course).
3. Personality. None to speak of.
Blake Lewis:
1. Decent singer, not great, but beat boxing may make up for that?
2. Attractiveness. Well, since I'm a guy, I can't say he's cute!?! BUT, given his dad is huge, he has done a great job "beating the genes". Jordin could learn a lot from Blake.
3. Personality. Fairly good.
So, the reason I bet Blake is that he had 2.5 out of 3 of the above. And at great odds (8-1).
But Blake will be out this week. It is obvious that the show is pushing Jordin and Melinda. I'm not sure why, but it seems that way.
And it sure seems that Randy is pushing the race card - he NEVER says anything good about Blake. Melinda was not good tonight, especially on that last song - but Randy loved her anyway.
It will be interesting what the public votes. Will they vote for the American Idol, or will they vote for the best singer?
Who knows? But I'm guessing my Blake bet is now dead - FOX pushed the other 2 contestants too hard - even though Blake will have the best career out of all of them (unless Jordin loses 50 pounds, then she'll be a hottie).
Am I wrong? Or is America not as shallow as I think they will be?
Call me "Shallow Hal" I guess... but the last fat Idol to win (Ruben) hasn't done squat.....

Fantastic job handicapping. I agreed with you all along, but I don't think I would have had quite the same conviction. I gotta say I was certainly freaked after the judges pimping of Melinda last night. Melinda was +700 right before tipoff. Wish I got me some o' dat! I'll take my +200 to the bank tho. Now I got me blake at +1000 and jordin at +1200/1500 so I think I'm gonna do all right. I don't care who has the better voice or who looks gay or whatever, just print my money. Daughty had the whole bad boy charm going on along with being a good singer. And he had the looks thing too for the girls...
Melinda only has 1 thing - singing. No personality and the looks of Mr. Ed.
I realize that looks and personality don't come through the radio, but these things certainly affect how people view some of these singers.
Speaking of looks - how about how Yamin looked when he came out tonight? Can you say "serious makeover"?
Was funny watching Paula trying not to act giddy about Blake still being around. As usual America has gotten it wrong....of course this of a nation where wrestling, hip hop and NASCAR are popular.
Can only hope Jordin wins over the spitter.

BDB for what its worth nice job on your picks. You made it interesting to watch the show.
I'm not so sure America didn't get it right. If the show was "America's Best Singer", I'd definitely agree with you.
But given that it's American IDOL, it becomes very subjective to what American's think gives an individual idol quality. At least that's the way I saw it when I put $$$ on Blake - he has personality and is likeable, and is entertaining.
Melinda, for as good of a singer as she is, is not likeable (even with her ass sticking out of her split pants) and really has no personality. Which is probably why she has been a backup singer and not a lead singer in the past. She couldn't carry a show by herself.
I just hope that the odds aren't too heavy (pardon the pun) on Jordin, so I will have a chance to lay off some of the Blake money I have - and at least guarantee a profit.
Since Jordan has a neat personality, smile and is a better singer than Blake, I think she'll win easily - even if she is out of shape for a 17 year old.
They will both do fine in the recording arena, I'd guess.
I still can't get over how much different Elliot Yamin looked last night...
Happy to have picked the final two from a couple months ago, although really don't think it was that tough. I think both of the finalists were the best choice to be an "American Idol", and think both will have a good career. I would not underestimate the Blake young girl love factor...especially since Chris has been gone, the vote division for the three black females really came to fruition.
Blake is an entertainer and if left to pick his own stuff or contemporary "Maroon 5" type stuff is provided for him, I still think he could win this. Jordin has not been as good the past few weeks, and I think the pressure will get to her more than Blake - who is clearly enjoying the ride.
Melinda will not approach either of these two in record sales, in my opinion.
