I was told one of our networks is starting a list of companies that have cut American jobs. And sent them off to China. I have not seen this. I can guess MSNBC fianicial maybe. But there all about the stock market so that would suprise me. They would not draw that attetion to any of these companies. He said no talk about boycotting these products. Just a awareness for the American people to see. Well I have news for those folks. This attention will lead to that next step if more jobs are lost. That would not be good for the stock holders. That would not in long run help are recovery. Folks that make money in the stock market spend more of it. Anyone seen this list. I shall be looking.

U.S. officials said Saddam?s capture might hurt morale in the guerrilla insurgency, which has killed 200 Americans and has plagued efforts at stabilizing and rebuilding Iraq. But they also cautioned that it would not bring an immediate reduction to attacks and in fact could increase them in the short term.

?We expect it will take some time before we see any possible effects from what we?ve accomplished,? said Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who was visiting troops in Iraq.

Still, he added, ?when you take this leader, who is at one time a very popular leader in this region, and you find him in a hole in the ground, that?s a pretty powerful statement that you?re on the wrong team."

Got to respect Robin Williams for going to the Bahdad airport and entertaining the troops.

Sean Penn went but no one laughed about that trip.

I hope with this restructioning they can start paying dividends.:)

Seriously DJV moving jobs was part of agreement that China would do business with them I am sure. They don't mind sharing a piece of the pie with American companys as long as it employes their people. ASD prospects in China are HUGE!

P.S. Be truthful now my friend.
Remember you told us how you owed Clinton thanks for your retirement.

When Clinton left office ASD was $40 a share it is now more than double that.

So maybe you should be thanking Bush for doubling your retirement in 3 years.

I understand it is hard to overcome left wing mentality
"Hell with facts FCK Bush.":tongue

I like you my friend but you can not see the forest for the trees.

I had a question about Saddams capture.

If Saddam had been coming up out of the hole with his hands up and said " I am Saddam Hussain , President of Iraq , I want to negotiate"

and the soldier instead of saying

"Regards from President Bush"

had just shot Saddam three times.

Would the soldier be in deep chit or hailed as a hero for saving us all the crap we are going to go through trying this nutcase on
a world stage ?

I always liked Robin Williams in the past. The problem is, I've learned, he's part of the team photo of "You too can come up with insane antics and a good hook if you take the right drugs". :nono: Give me the right mind-alterring substance and I'll be doing Vegas in a month.:D :moon: :D

DTB, ASD did cross just over 80 or like 81 when the wild man was in office. Fell back with everything else to around 61/62. But we new with cost cutting and cut backs we were ready to run it up with any sign of good times. And it of course has. Happy as can be am I. Sad for those out of there jobs. But these companies are ran for the stock holders. Everyone has to understand that. It's not about the American worker anymore. What I did not like was the letters upper mangemnet got about the suggested amount to give to the republican party. You see Mr Posses is big time right winger. So he has no shame in doing that. I mean alow level VP's letter may say 2500 to 3000 would be nice. So you can guess what the higher ups might be suggested to do. Mind you I say suggest. This was three years back. So I don't know if new laws even permit this anymore.
Anothers sad thing about those jobs going to China are 400 comeing from my town. And Is it some times greed. By that I mean those jobs stay here. Maybe the stock only gets to 94/95 instead of 101/102. But at least there are 400 more Americans working. Good paying jobs and need no help.
Reminds me of old saying. You not guilty till proven poor. Are we about making more folks poor. And does not that just cause a drain on all of us. We seem to be replacing 15/18 dollar jobs with 7/8 dollar ones.

It would be nice if there were never any layoffs, but you can't have greater productivity and same amount of people unless you expand business. Some say it is greed but it really comes down to profit. You can't operate in red.
Heres a classic example I read recently.

"Let me give you a real world example. Last year, it was revealed through divorce proceedings that former General Electric CEO Jack Welch (search) was recipient of all sorts of lavish perks that even thee most ardent capitalist would have to concede were a little ridiculous. The revelation only confirmed the biases of those already critical of Welch, who began his tenure at GE by laying off close to 100,000 people, and whose management style put, to borrow a phrase, ?profits over people.? Welch has never been accused of fraud or deceit -- he?s no Ken Lay. But rather, Welch for some has come to epitomize the excesses of capitalism, profiteering and greed.

On the far-other end of the spectrum is Aaron Feuerstein (search). Feuerstein was CEO of the Malden Mills company, a clothing outfitter in Massachusetts. In 1995, three of Malden Mills? main factories burned to the ground. Feuerstein vowed not only to rebuild those factories, he vowed to rebuild them in a manner that was more worker-friendly and more environmentally friendly than the previous plants, no matter the cost. Feuerstein also vowed to continue to pay his 3,000 workers at full salary until those plants were rebuilt.

Feuerstein was beatified by media and politicians everywhere for his good deed. He got a seat at Bill Clinton?s State of the Union address. He was awarded honorary degrees from universities across the country. He was flatteringly profiled on 60 Minutes.

In November of 2001, Malden Mills declared bankruptcy. Feuerstein?s vow to rebuild the company?s factories on borrowed money while continuing to pay every employee ran Malden Mills into the ground. His benevolence nearly cost 3,000 people their livelihood. Instead of short-term hardship endured while the factories were rebuilt, those people nearly lost their jobs completely.

I say ?nearly? because there?s a somewhat happy ending to the story. Malden Mills was saved, thanks in part to a last-minute investment by an outfit called GE Capital. GE Capital is of course owned by General Electric, a company that under the ?ruthless? leadership of Jack Welch grew from a maker of refrigerators into the kind of multinational behemoth that can spin off venture capital subsidiaries, which can then invest in struggling companies like Malden Mills.

I?m sure the 100,000 or so people Jack Welch laid off to streamline GE in the early 1980s still don?t think much of him. But his leadership eventually replaced those jobs several times over.

And the 1,200 people who work at Malden Mills today owe their jobs not to Aaron Feuerstein's kindness but to Jack Welch's greed. "

I would never be aginst the highest paid in a company be only 25 times the lowest paid. would make sure bottom is mno to bad off. and top would still be doing ok. would give the top a reason to see what they could do with the bottom person to make them worth more. More traning more responsibilty what ever. And to make sure the top guy would not suffer to much. Give him a 5 %
bonus for meeting all goals. And the others can all get at least a gift for 20 bucks to get a Xmas ham. You want to see more profits and help for the stock this is another way of doing it.
Lets look at ASD CEO gets 6.5 million a year. He also gets 50 million in stock options over his 5 year contract. With other bonues of 5 to 7 million more if deemd to have done a good job.
With a private airplane and a limo in NJ and one in my town. Not bad for a company not in top 100. Top 250 yes.
So how is he doing this to get that bonus higher. Well first 30000 had to be throwen out of there jobs. Then another 2500 were asked if they would take a package with no threat to leave. Well package was good enough one. Anyone near retirement would been a fool not to take it. So I sure as hell did. Then the hunt for cost reductions. Some worked some didn't so cut another 3500. My point is you don't have to be to smart to just keep cutting folks. Then take 3 to 4 thousand of these jobs and place them in China.
