At one time they called it states stealing jobs from other states.
The north had good bennies and higher wages. Some states in the south would offer free land and lower wages for them to move south. When that started to slow down in the late 60's early 70's. The companies started going to Japan and Taiwan. Now they go to China and Malaysia.
