An Army Of One

I just saw this U.S. Army recruiting commercial one time too many. It finally "tripped" my switch!

I just e-mailed them this short note:

Greetings:

I am the son of a Navy Commander/Chaplain. Having grown up in the military although never having served myself I wanted to make a comment about your recent new advertising campaign for the U.S. Army.

"An Army Of One". I think that this is the stupidest thing that I have ever seen!

Am I missing something? The military is based on discipline, leadership, TEAMWORK, and respecting the CHAIN of COMMAND.

How many armies of ONE do we need to lose our next war?

Az, you have got to be shitting us. If that add is like that. Your comments are correct. Team work is only way. As it is in many things we do in life. This site is a good example.

fellas, i think you are missing the point the army is trying to make with this and the strategy they are using.
Sociological point: Groups are out; individuality is in. that is as far as the 16-24 age demograph goes anyway. Kids do not want to be part of the "group" but their own self sufficient human being.
hence: an army of one.

secondly, this motto stresses the importance of being a hard, strong, productive member. YOU are the army, YOU, not yer neighbor, not johnny down the street, not even little suzy rottencrotch next door, but YOU can be that force that drives america into the future. Your body and mind is tuff enuff to be the "army of one"

I believe the commerical is dumber than a surface contact location device on a submarine, but hey, it is not a quick jobber put together cuz there was nuthin else left, there was some serious thought to it, and I have not seen the numbers on it yet, but i dont think army recruiting is hurting any right now.
