It is a GREAT day to be a Wisconsinite! :00hour

No more union led mafia running the state. The power is now back in the people's hands, not the unions.

THIS is what democracy looks like!

Right behind you
It is a GREAT day to be a Wisconsinite! :00hour

No more unions negotiating good wages and benefits. The power is now back in the money grubbers hands, not the peoples.

THIS is what fucking the middle class looks like!

Fixed it for you, Maggot.

I assume that half the people in this forum think that this was not political, judicial activism, right? At least by four judges?

No more so than Judge Sumi - who put the original stay on the law. Courts have upheld this law in a number of states, so there is precident.

Why the union hacks are making such a big issue in WI, when this already happened in IN and OH is beyond me.

I guess the IN and OH folks are more level headed, and likely better educated. Or just not so used to suckling the teet..

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense...

Wisconsin was #2 in education before this takes effect, we'll see where they are in a couple of years, or 10 or so down the road, when they try to change the education system that has worked so well to start saving so much money for the budget issue...

By the way, how is that tax cut thing working out for the state? The big earners and all? They trickling things down for everyone else? How's the deficit going since this went into effect first thing for Walker? Evidently not so well, since he has to look elsewhere to make his numbers look better.

Education working well? Have you looked at MPS lately (where most of the big money teachers are)????? I believe it is ranked as the worst big city school system in the nation.. Money is not the answer and does not solve anything.

Actually, if you read the latest CEO study, 89% of the State CEO's were "optimistic", versus like 11% the year before under the Democratic Regime. While not all the scientific, it is a well regarded survey done each year.

Many, Many WI folks look at Walker as a hero. Again, not doing anything much different that IN and OH did. Just more babies here I guess.

Also, we are poised to have our first SURPLUS in 10 years... which coincides with how long we've had a Democrat running things... just needed to get someone with balls and brains in charge, not someone (Doyle) that was a union lackey...

This wasn't about money.

Sorry, Tramp, I believe it was/is. See, the unions didn't "agree" to the concessions until they saw the bill that Walker proposed. Then the agreed, as they tried to save face.

But the thing is, if we didn't get a handle on union bargaining, it would just boomerang the next time a Dem was running the state (or even sooner). Yes, they agree to a concession now, but then next year they bargain for twice as much as they would have, and they are right back where they started.

Something had to be done - it's just too bad it had to be such a painful process to get there.

So, you are poised to have your first surplus in 10 years, BEFORE the ruling takes effect with the union situation? Is that right? I have no info on this, just trying to get your points figured out. So, the union situation had no impact on any surplus? Just checking - IF the surplus is as you state it is...

I have not looked at MPS lately, no. If in fact it is the worst big city school system in the nation (if in fact it is - not sure what that's based on... of course), then apparently the rest of the state education system must be incredibly good and well run, and well funded to have a state ranking of #2 overall. What should we make of this? One school system is not doing well, and the rest of the state is probably #1 overall without that one system? And you say money isn't the issue? Really? How about comparing the state of Wisconsin, which has always funded education fairly well, being #2 overall - and your governor decides to go after that as his first mission to cut expenses for the state?

I understand not wanting to spend money on education - that's always a choice. Personally, I think it's pretty important for the health and future of a state - and of course you think your own personal financial well being is the most important thing. It's all a matter of perspective. I just think it's ridiculous to attack (directly) the teachers (not firefighters, not police) when they are clearly overall - for the state - producing very successful students. If the state was ranked #50, yes, I could see attacking it. But #2? That's something I would be proud of as a citizen of a state - unless I was worried about my own tax burden every day of my life... and had no kids in the school system. What do you care, right?

Well said Chad.

Mags is one of the guys I was thinking of when I said... "Man, I get sick of hearing conservatives whine about high gas prices, whine about government regulations, whine about social programs, whine about taxes, whine about environmental protections, whine about jobs, whine about immigration, whine about healthcare, whine about social security...".

They just never stop whining... :violin:

Hero? Really? I don't know of any? I do know some who support it but calling Walker a hero is a tad strong. This may help the state financially but at what price? I still think this guy has cut his throat but time will tell. How are the businesss doing since the tax breaks?

BP - My understanding is, Walker just got elected in November of 2010, with many of the changes taking effect in 2011. While things are getting better (according to survey's), I would think he'd need a year to see real results (at least).

It's not like he's Obama, who's had 3 years to significantly increase spending, debt AND unemployment. Clearly the book is in on "O" and he's been a disaster. Give Walker 3 years and he'll been annointed King..... Difference is Walker loves the private sector and jobs, and Obama hates the private sector - which everyone on Wall Street knows. Certainly Boeing understands that.

What the hell are you talking about, Mags?

You hypocrits have been whining about Obama's inability to turn around the largest economy in world since he took his hand off the bible Judge Roberts was holding.

Now you're singing a different tune with your boy, Walker. Why wouldn't Walker love the private sector? They bought and paid for him.

He's not gonna bite the hand that feeds him...

Ok I will wait another 6 months and then I will ask the same question regarding Wisconsin businesses. I know the Northwest corner of WI is not a major election factor but it would take a miracle to change the people's minds from this corner of the state.
