Rizzo went out of his way to hit Diaz the Pirate catcher which is the exact reason the Buster Posey rule #7.13 was put in three years ago. Not only was it a cheap shot by the Cubby first baseman, Diaz a young talented catcher could of easily torn his ACL and or broken his ankle. Hurdle went crazy and the announcers are still laughing at the MLB umpires who had the replay and chose not to call the out at first base. Gutless pussies, as it's the first sentence of the rule. I hope somebody seeing this wipes out a superstar catcher .The rule states that ( A runner attempting to score may not deviate from his direct pathway to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher (or other player covering home plate). The Pirates may not score but two runs at 5-0 is a much more mountain to climb than 3-0. The rule was put in to protect the catcher. Diaz is no Posey but deserves the same calls!

If i was the coach i would of beamed Rizzo on his next at bat. Anyone having a under bet got a really bad beat.

He didn't go out of his way! He slid right over the plate legs down. You are allowed to take out the fielder to break up a double play if he is the base path! Reviewed and it was clean, end of discussion. :0corn
Go Cubbies!

Go Cubbies!

Thanks for putting that go cubbies at the end . Funny how some people can?t even be honest with themselves. Anyone that saw the play that?s not a Cubs fan and is a honest person knows that he stuck His leg out to hit Diaz, and Diaz was 3 foot in fair territory towards first base. Joke

the whole idea of the rule is to eliminate the leg whip..

A runner attempting to score may not deviate from his direct pathway to the plate in order to initiate contact with the catcher (

that means you can't leg whip a player moving your body towards the pitchers mounds instead of the DIRECT PATHWAY TOWARD HOME PLATE..

PRETTY CLEAR RULE
