Another computer ?

I have been lazy about this problem, but it is finally pissing me off.

Whenever I visit youtube or any other site that has streaming video(I guess thats what you call it:shrug
my laptop heats up and then the video starts slowing down and the mouse pointer will barely move and then my computer shuts down.

I have bought one of those things you put your laptop on that has a couple fans, but that does no good.

before I take it somewhere, I want to get an idea of what this could be.

IMO, I think I need more memory or RAM? I'm not real computer savvy on the tech issues.. so someone please help! I can't stand it anymore!

Its a Dell Inspiron 1150. I believe I purchased it the middle of '04.

and buying a new one is outta the question! haha

04' is a long time from now... I update my laptops every 3 years or so and at the end they always seem to be nearly alive. I'd say its probably essential for you to get a new one given all the upgrades in technology and such. My dell died about 2 years into having it, but that was due to spyware and all that stuff, I called up and told them that and didnt mention the spyware and just said the harddrive stopped working and they sent me a brand new one. perhaps try this? dell does have amazing customer service, call them up and they will walk you through a bunch of shit and hook you up if it doesnt work.
