Boston's third-leading scorer gets 44 percent hike

TORONTO -- Boston Bruins left wing Brian Rolston received a 44 percent raise Friday, when he was awarded a $3.175 million contract by an arbitrator.

Rolston, whose case was heard Wednesday in Toronto, earned $2.2 million last season. He was third in scoring for the Bruins, collecting 27 goals and 32 assists in 81 games.

In line to become a Group III unrestricted free agent after the 2003-04 campaign, Rolston was second in the NHL last season with five shorthanded goals. He added two assists in Boston's five-game loss to New Jersey in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.

Selected 11th overall by New Jersey in the 1991 draft, Rolston has appeared in 654 NHL games with the Devils, Colorado and Boston, totaling 171 goals and 384 points.

Dude, that's bogus, man. You can't be happy about that crap. Now the B's will never go get a real goalie with the money they have to give Rolston.

Great to hear that Girard is recovering, though.

BTW, I just checked my email late last nite, I was ROTFLMFAO. Do you even remember what you wrote??:drinky: :jump: :look: :drinky:

Not really...I was partying like a rock star and it was pass out or puke last Friday...I passed out. Saturday was awful.

I sent you & HORNY e-mails and that's about all I remember. Glad you had a good laugh

I hadn't even heard the Rolston ruling until I posted this today so I'm wondering if the B's will walk away and let him be a UFA like when they let DK go...Which turned into a good move.

Hmmmm...Sign Sandy McCarthy. Let Bryan Berard walk away for nothing. Big improvement with those moves! Just makes me want to go get B's season tickets for the '03-04 year.

I don't think that Berard is worth 2.51 million per year but with the losses of Berard & Girard, there's NOBODY to move the puck out of the zone.

Right about now, if I'm Mike Sullivan - I'm asking to go back and coach Providence.
