Have a list here somewhere of all the terrorist captured or killed by Saudi's since 01
but bottom line is--10 years prior to invasion of afgan/iraq we had 2 attacks by Al-Quada on trade towers- numerous embassy bombings--ship bombed ect
How many have occured in last 6 years-
and you can thank new ally Pakistan for help in twarting the bombings of several airliners and last UK venture.
Now ask yourself --where we'd be if Kerry was elected and we didn't have the new ally's and still be trying to stroke the French.
I don't know where we'd be if Kerry was elected, other than probably not in Iraq, which most people seem to wish was the case. I think that would be a great step for the U.S., personally, and so do most non-Neocons.
As for your other assessment, I guess you are only wanting to talk about specific things that make your story look better. As for embassy bombings in the 10 previous years (I guess blaming Clinton/demcrats, as that would be the normal blame from you), what about Islamic bombings in the 10 years before that? How about 1983 in Lebanon under Reagan/Bush I's watch? Or, in 1984, under the same watch? Interesting to note there was no response to those by our administration - which perhaps could have led to the subsequent attacks and growth of terrorism under the watch of republican administrations? In the African embassy terror attacks, Clinton ordered air strikes on terror camps, which was a direct response. Hey, it's something. And considering that Kerry is also a military man familiar with war and terrorism, he probably wouldn't stand idly by if we were attacked. I don't think many people would. He just might have stayed the REAL course and maintained sufficient forces in the country and areas where the person responsible for attacking our country is known to hang out, and not pulled them out to fight elsewhere under false pretenses.
You ask for attacks since 9-11. Plenty on American interests, if that matters (I assume it won't for some reason...):
2002
June 14, Karachi, Pakistan: bomb exploded outside American consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, killing 12. Linked to al-Qaeda.
2003
May 12, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: suicide bombers killed 34, including 8 Americans, at housing compounds for Westerners. Al-Qaeda suspected.
2004
May 29?31, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: terrorists attack the offices of a Saudi oil company in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, take foreign oil workers hostage in a nearby residential compound, leaving 22 people dead including one American.
June 11?19, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: terrorists kidnap and execute Paul Johnson Jr., an American, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 2 other Americans and BBC cameraman killed by gun attacks.
Dec. 6, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: terrorists storm the U.S. consulate, killing 5 consulate employees. 4 terrorists were killed by Saudi security.
2005
Nov. 9, Amman, Jordan: Suicide bombers hit 3 American hotels, Radisson, Grand Hyatt, and Days Inn, in Amman, Jordan, killing 57. Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.
2006
Sept. 13, Damascus, Syria: an attack by four gunman on the American embassy was foiled. (Yay...we finally stopped one, I guess...)
2007
Jan. 12, Athens, Greece: the U.S. embassy was fired on by an anti-tank missile causing damage but no injuries.
Do you think the fact that the Saudi's have "helped the U.S.", as you put it, in capturing terrorists, has anything to do with the terrorists attacking oil and other Saudi government interests IN SAUDI ARABIA?!? Thanks for that insight. And of course, Pakistan...who has still not been able to find the man responsible for 9-11, much like our administration, who seems to still be looking for him in Iraq. Nice to know the Taliban have been making a comeback there.
What new allys are you referring, to, by the way? That is an interesting jab. Looks like Bush is getting pretty close to helping Putin gain some renewed power as a world leader by his antics of late. If anyone actually reads the last few comments by Putin, and doesn't have an eternal hardon for the Bush administration, you could certainly see some believability and sensibility in some of those assessments. Much less has bread dangerous partnerships against the U.S. in the past.
Maybe it's time Dubbya pixxed the Chinese off again...it's been a few weeks since he's rattled their cage.
At least when we attack and take over Iran, their oil reserves will pay for that one. Right?
