I'm sure no charges will be pressed, nor should there be. Sadly, this stuff happens in the USA for those of you who thought the VP should be persecuted for a similar, non-lethal accident.

Man Accidentally Kills Son During Hunting Trip

POSTED: 9:50 am EST February 22, 2006

MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Police say a 72-year-old man accidentally shot and killed his son during a hunting trip in southeast Indiana.

James Mikey Watkins, 36, of Dillsboro, was pronounced dead at a Dearborn County Hospital.

Investigators said Watkins' father, James J. Watkins, fired the shot that hit his son while they were game bird hunting at the Quail Ridge Sportsman's Club in Manchester.

The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon at the club about 25 miles west of Cincinnati.

Indiana conservation officers are investigating the shooting.

Agree this happens more than we even know in America.

There was a kid in our high school that went hunting with his brother. He left the safety off this shotgun. Tripped and shot his younger brother in the head killing him.

Cant imagine going through something like that. The whole process of what you would have to go through if you were responsible is beyond realization.

Kid finally came back to school but he was never the same after that.

Life altering in the worst way possible.

Accident yes. Problem is both this man and Cheney broke golden rules of hunting. A, No booze till after hunting is done for day. At least Cheney said he had a beer or two at lunch. B,Always point the muzzle or weapon in a safe direction. C, Treat every fire arm as if it's loaded. D, Be certain of your target and whats beyond it. E,
Keep your finger outside the trigger guard and off trigger till ready to shoot. F, Know where your hunting partners are. These are what we teach any young or for that matter old hunters. It helps safe lives and injuries. I believe in both these cases we will find one two or three of these rules were broken.

agree, djv, drinking and hunting never go together. I'm all for crucifying the vp if he was drunk. I can't stand slob hunters and drunks with guns.
