Yes, I own a telemarketing room and this is very scary. I employ over 70 people, and when we have to switch to direct mail and email blasting and fax blasting and newspaper print advertising, I don't see myself still having 70 employees. Keep up the good work Congress, you are on a roll
I understand that point of view, but DAMN, nobody including you can like getting these calls at home so I am glad this came about. I have had exactly 1 sales phone call since I signed up last year and when I mentioned I was on the no-call list they hung up immediatly, imagine that a telemarketer hanging up on me, been the other way around for the last 10,000 calls.
Seriously Gatorbail, I see your side of this, but Iwould get like 5-6 calls a day and that just SUCKED!

They must have a ton of registrations, I just got my email confirmation a few minutes ago. What a relief, no more "Out of Area" calls. Gotta love it. Thanks for posting...

A TELEMARKETER GETS THE SALAMI
The other day this lady named Courtney called Out of Area. She wanted me to get Investors Buis Daily a stock newspaper that I do read sometimes. Now I am pretty much minding my own business when the call comes in but I am not in the best of moods. I have no intention of buying anything anytime over the phone ...ever and that means never.
So she tells me she is the two free week girl and I could get the paper for two free weeks. All she needed was my american express corp card number.
She was persistant and prodding me. I felt powerless in her grasp. This would not be easy. Her voice was sweet so I listened.
She was glistening with sweat now doing her work.
The soft smell of her perfume was in the air.
Intoxicating words she whispered into my ear. I was drawn to her and I wanted more than anything to have this woman trying to sell me the paper. I felt her hips move as she talked to me. I moved forward just thinking about her.
She thrusted at me asking me if I would perform the two free weeks for her ? I responded back anything but how much would that cost me.
She tried to close again , asking me for the information she needed to hang my ass up on her bed post.
I resisted but I was now weakened.
She climbed on and had her chest in my face with her white blouse unbuttoned, as she asked me to get the Investors Daily. I resisted and asked how much did it cost.
She said she didnt know as she was only the two free week girl.
I asked her how many pairs of shoes that she had ? she balked and I said I bet you its over 50 pairs ? she laughed. I made the two free week girl laugh. Now she was in the web I had cast. I would have my way with her now at all costs. The one thing that I do know about her at this point is that Courtney has a pair of matching color shoes for every outfit in her closet.
She breaths heavily into the phone and then she puts the Supervisor on the phone just when I needed her most. So I talk to the Supervisor a few minutes, and oh and by the way Courtney is very professional in her job. So the Supervisor says.... OK do you want the two free weeks now ? I said yes, let me talk to Courtney. He transfers the call to Courtney and I say .....BEECH why did you sic that bastid on me ? Let me tell you she was surprised to talk to me again. She laughed and I knew the act was about to be consemated.
She asked me for the 30th time would I like to get the paper.
I asked her how much was it again ?
I hear a click on the other end of the line.
I have done the impossible, the telemarketer has hung up on me.
My work here is done.

No..the thing is that the rest of us have lives. We dont need to have people calling to sell us stuff we dont want/need.
If it really dosent bother you post your home phone # here and the next time I get an unsolicited telemarketer calling I will be more that happy to give them your #.
For anyone who thinks this won't work, I used the sign up that Wisconsin had last April, and have not had one call from a solicitor since.
