Any Cigar smokers here?

I been smoking cigars for about 4-5 years now but maybe only only every 2months. But now I have taken a stronger interest in this hobby and enjoy it. So I purchased a 300 ct. humidor and started filling it up. Wonder if there are hidden gems out there. I don't want to smoke anything over $5 and stick mainly to $1-$5 priced cigars. (for now)

Below is a list of what I bought. Let me know if you tried any of these and positive/negative feedback is welcome. Also new suggestions as well as I don't mind purchasing some 5-packs. I have lots of room in my humidor.

I plan on smoking these right away but also aging them as cigars taste better aged. Therefore I purchased a lot right away with future smoking in mind. I went to some cigar boards to get opinions and came up with this list. Curious to see if any MJ's have opinions on these cigars or cigars not on my list. Look forward to your replies. BTW, you can get great deals on humidors on e-bay. Also, purchase your cigars online vs cigar shops. Much cheaper.

CAO Cigars

This is a company out of Nashville that is gaining a great repuattion in the cigar industry. I always slighted them because of where they are located, but they produce a very fine line of cigars.

Friend of mine told me to try one by Acid called Root, but haven't done so yet.

I agree with you on the La Vieja Habana, great cigar for the money.

I have not tried the LVH's yet, so thats good to know. A lot of people praise this cigar for being high quality for the price. Which is exactly what I am looking for.

I'm staying away from purchasing acids because you are not suppose to store them in your humidor with other cigars. But what is the difference between an acid cigar and regular cigar? I never had an acid.



If you have a humidor, do you keep your plastics on the cigar inside humidor or do you take them off? I am having hard time deciding.

Good friend of mine uses JR Cigar. Guess they are top notch and well priced.

I myself like a good Phillies now and then. Mild, sweet, aromatic. And the hole is precut, so you don't even need a cutter. Within the $1-$5 price range for a pack of 5!

Take the plastic off, or at the very least open the end and expose the end of the cigar you light. The purpose of having them in the humidor is to let the moist are penetrate the cigar.

Everyone overdoes it when they first get a humidor as far as the humidity level goes, invest in a decent hygrometer. When you do have too much moisture in the box it likely will not be mold on the cigars (though you will think it is) it is actually something called bloom and can be wiped off.

man...do i hate raining on this parade....but i have to say this.....call it a public service announcement...

a close friend...a guy i played ball with....6`2" 230 lb rock of a guy...all state pitcher...football player...great athlete...

started smoking cigars a few years back...never smoked cigarettes...really got into it....

he developed throat cancer...and lasted around 7 months....his wife swears it was the cigars....

maybe...maybe not....it was an odd coincidence...

i just thought i should let you know scott....

I am an avid cigar smoker--I only smoke maduros--The Padrons' are great try and get some 1926 series-best they make-hard to find. Fuente puts out a good cigar also.Two web sites-cigar.com and one of my favorites-cigarbid.com--set up like e-bay--they put up a list of many boxes and 5 pakcs for bid auction like on e-bay--minimum bid and the bids end at a certain time--I have gotten many great buys there--good luck--nothng like an hour long ciagr to relax.

I also smoke maduros. I've been smoking the black labels from Romeo Y Julieta's and Partagas A little over your range but where worth it.

Padron 2000 Maduro is the only one on your list I have smoked.

Yes, I consider cigar smoking a hobby. Especially collecting a wide variety in your humidor.

I have couple Romeo Y Julieta's, 1 partaga and couple arturo fuentes I got from a sampler pack of premiums. Plan on giving them a try after being in the humidor at least a a month. Prob. after USC beats Hawaii! Only smoke the premiums on special occasions!

What is your review on the Padron 2000? I got a box of 25 of these. I have not tried it yet. Waiting for them to age at least month in humidor before I try one. They got great reviews from most cigar smokers.

Sad story. Did he inhale his cigars? I don't inhale the cigars into my lungs or throat. If I do, I start coughing real bad. I am not a cigarette smoker either. Maybe why inhaling cigars gives me so much problems but thats good becuase I do not want to inhale them anyways. Just keep the smoke in my mouth. So I might get mouth cancer but I do not smoke cigars everyday. Maybe once a week. Since I do not smoke on everyday basis. I think health wise this hobby won't be a problem.

I am 24 years old and $1-$5 cigars is my range. Maybe that is cheap to most but not me. Plus I plan on aging my cigars so a cheap cigar turns into a decent cigar after aging. That is why I purchased huge lot at once. $1-$2 smokes for everyday and give to my friends. $4-$5 for special occasions. Works for me and my budget! BTW, a 300 ct glass top humidor is not cheap. I can afford more expensive cigars but I choose not too. I choose to save and spend my money on more serious things, such as investments. For example, I am looking to purchase a home in CA. Unfortunately, there are not too many cheap homes! :-( But I am looking!
