I haven't been around the site much lately... I kinda go underground from February until the NFL is about ready to go again. Anyways, I remember last year coming back in late August and there were already rooms booked for the Superbowl party and everything.

I've decided that this year I am going to Vegas for sure for the Superbowl and I'd like to make some arrangements now if possible, or at least start hunting for the best bargains on rooms and all. I know it's early, but has anyone started to plan the party yet? If there's a thread here on the subject I've missed and someone could direct me to it it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing myself today. My wife and I want to go in November again, but I was telling her to maybe wait and we can go for the Superbowl party... Let us know any details Jack when you get the chance....

Working on it very hard, With us giving sunset the boot because of the way they ripped people off, and the sb being back another week in feb nakes it right during a major convention, ontop of not many places want to deal with a privite party on that day, most casinos have them set up for their vip's who come into town, and a few have their own for like 50 bucks a head 2 dogs and 2 beers it sucks, have in 5 places to give me bids and have called backed 3 times to all and they say they are still looking into it, also securing the big projection screens and sound system is a pain, resorts do not own that many, when you have a convention or good size party they are rented from a av company who does most conventions, lot of work goes into this and i am up against a steep wall this year but will pull something out, no way price can stay at 100, the room will cost double what we paid at sunset, the buffet price will be about the same and booze, but room, equipment, and set up will run more so i would say around 125 to 130 and jack will still have to fork out about 3 grand out of pocket from my first bids, now in a beat down war with these places if they even want to take on a party on super bowl on the strip. trust me it is a major pain in the ass this year, the date being the biggest and just having room for it some where for over 80-100 people . You have a major convention which will be at 3 places and they will stay all over town, people flying in for sb. It is very hard but work is in progress.

That is all i can tell you at this time because that is all i have been told by the places.

Has anyone actually stayed at Atlantis? I thought I remember a friend telling me to stay at Atlantis is ridiculously expensive in terms of the buffets or restaurants/food etc. Lots of good hotels on the "strip" though on Nassau. Cool idea!

I appreciate all the hard work you're putting into it Fletcher, and will check back later to see if you've been able to nail something down. No doubt a lot of work and a lot to think about. I'm looking forward to meeting a whole bunch of MadJackers when it all comes together. Should be a blast no matter where it ends up.

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Damn:(
Sure hope its not Atlantis:eek: Not trying to be sour grapes but:

I would not stay there if they paid me to come down and gave the room for free:mad:

There is alot more than meets the eye there, but Im also sure that many have had good experiences.

You do what you need Fletch, but if you are serious about Atlantis, we need to talk.

Jmize,

Like people mentioned, Atlantis is a great resort (I don't know what Franky Wrights problems with it are-maybe he can elaborate) and I think it would be a good place to have it. There are some potential problems though. Although there are obviously other, cheaper places to stay on Paradise Island, Atlantis is by far the best, IMO, and I assume that most people would want to stay there. But people should know that although pricing for february hasn't been announced yet, you can figure the cheapest, most basic room to be in the $325/night range + all the taxes, surcharges and overcharges. We'll be right at the very peak of season.

Also, I imagine that flights there are pretty expensive from around the country. I don't really know, as I live here in Florida, but I assume they have to be pretty expensive. Again, especially at that time of year.

I've also briefly spoken with a banquet person there regarding what they have to offer as far as food and a/v capabilities. There are tons of different options/combinations, but in general, no matter what we were to decide it will probably be much more expensive than $100/person, even for the 'base' package, as fletch mentioned above. Just eyeballing it, and without getting a firm quote on the room and a/v rental, I would say more like 175-200/person.

I also wasn't very encouraged with the response in regards to getting big screen TV's. She came just short of saying that that wouldn't be possible and on the slim chance that they could get them from somewhere, we would pay dearly.

So I guess i'm basically saying that this wouldn't be a trip like Vegas where you can go out there for a very moderate amount of money if you choose to, and I don't know if we'd lose a lot of people who didn't want to spend a ton of money for the trip.

Fletcher mentioned that Geri knows the director of conventions there and that they would treat us like gold, so hopefully he can get some better or more favorable information soon, but otherwise, I agree that we probably need to get moving along on this one way or another.

To me, Atlantis would be fantastic if we get strong support for it and get some of those issues worked out (A/V in particular).

It's great to see all the people who haven't been to one yet, showing interest.
