Major League Baseball sent in a six-man umpiring crew for the Texas Rangers? play-in game against Tampa Bay on Monday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Crew chief Jeff Kellogg will work the plate. The Rangers are 1-2 with a 4.67 ERA this season when Kellogg has the plate.
This will be the second time in September that Kellogg has the plate for a start by left-hander Martin Perez. On Sept. 10, Perez allowed four runs in five innings during a loss to Pittsburgh with Kellogg as the plate umpire.
In the last three seasons, the Rangers are 4-4 with a 2.96 ERA when Kellogg has the plate.
