One thing I've long cherished is the ambiguity in song lyrics. Could be argued that's the wrong word--I mean a flexibility, or sorts, in interpretation--and its a matter of connection vs gibberish, which is less than ambiguous.
On that note, I have rarely sought explanation of what was intended by the artist, in songs, and have had mixed results in the illumination obtained. One example that I declare as positive is for this next one. Apparently, as the story goes, Chris Cornell experienced a situation where he found a severely crippled bird that had just flew into the window of his home, and he made the choice to perform euthanasia on this bird, for which he clearly concluded was immobile and suffering towards its finality. Judge his veterinary assessments as we may, this was a dilemma that clearly fucked with his head, as I imagine many things did. Not a major surprise, based on the lyrics, but it was information that allowed me to experience the song on another level.
She lived like a murder, how she'd fly so sweetly
She lived like a murder, but she died
Just like suicide
