any songs remind you of a disordered ex-partner?

Background is a peer support group that I have been involved with over the past year or so. A high percentage of the members are dealing with divorce and other types of break-ups, and many are having to navigate issues regarding young children, including the psychological impact of their parents separating and, of course, custody issues.

I have been out of the romance game for longer than I would care to admit, but I have been quite talen aback by the descriptions of irrational behavior that their former partners succumb to; the importance of an amicable break-up seems of major importance to both the mental health and economic viability of those involved.

I have been speculating on the overall percentage of deranged women in our population, but I have needed to accept that this group is an unrepresentative sample in this regard. Clearly, this is a subset of the population where the chaos of such separations has brought out the worst in people.

I am not quite sure how, or if, there is a politically corrent way to ask this question. For many, it may be a rather personal question best left unanswered. Doesn't have to be sad songs; could be some happy-clappy shit where the lyrics are poking fun at our twisted interpersonal dynamics. Could be anything.

My attack on the sportsbar within, last Saturday, found me hearing some of the (generally fun) lyrics in a rather different mindset. The effect that women can have on men, and the irrational dynamics that men will tolerate for such rewards, is fucking with my head in a deeper way.

Trying for two playlists. The second will be a more "fun" variety, or at least one that takes me back to my Live Wire days, where certain songs would always get some of the skirts up on the dance floor, paired up with sweetie teammates as they raised the overall temperature of the room.

Qualifiers for a second, men-want-booty, kind of playlist:
ac/dc-you shook me all night long
deep purple-anyone's daughter
grank funk railroad-some kind of wonderful
hollies-long cool woman
led zeppelin-black dog
nazareth-hair of the dog
zztop-under pressure
===*===

This could take a couple of weeks, but I've got a couple of examples from my recent sportbar assault. I can do better, but could also use some insight from others. I'll try to address mentioned group in about an hour, as we have a Wednesday go this week.

I took her home, to my place, watching every move on her face.
She said, Look, what's your game, baby, are you trying to put me in shame?
I said, Slow, don't talk so fast, don't you think that love can last?
She said, Love!, Lord above!, now you're trying to trick me in love!

I'm not qualified, but here's 3 shitty examples to start.

No intentions towards mysogyny within. I, for one, think that we are all fucked up. Levels the playing field, somewhat.

Cheers

Thanks, BobbyBlueChip. Track by The Story So Far seems like a keeper and some of the suffering gents should dig it; I needed a lyrics search to listen properly as there were mouthfuls of them. Other 2 I'll need to revisit.

I'm getting recommendations from the group, and elsewhere, so maybe this thread is a good place for those I'm less familiar with. The Blue October song, below, would fit but I have no idea if Zombies are real.

Glutton for punishment with this endeavor.
Hoping to have a youtube playlist by Bleak Monday, or whatever they call that nightmare that follows the big game.

I've lost track of some Hinder recommendations. Seems like this band is infatuated with themes of loved and lost, perhaps hindering their success in such matters.

Marbles are overrated.

I have met several rather violent women in my life, but none in which it was romance transforming into violence. Others not so lucky. Shitty subject matter. I need a vacation.

A couple of my favorite "Heart-Ache" songs:

"I'm Lying On My Back With Tears In My Ears Crying Over You"-Homer & Jethro

"I Bought The Shoes That Just Walked Out On Me"-Wynn Stewart

A few searches for that first one were failures, by me, with an AI telling me:

Jethro Burns does not have a well-known song with the exact phrase "crying over you" in the lyrics. The phrase and variations of it appear in songs by other artists.

Jethro Burns, an influential mandolin player, was part of the country and comedy duo Homer and Jethro, who were known for their parody versions of popular songs. While they recorded many covers, it is not clear if they ever covered "Crying" or a song with that phrase in the lyrics.

I should fuck around with that in-depth AI thingee. Recently, I couldn't coax an answer regarding both visitors winning in the Conference Championships. Shame.

Parody works fine, btw. Might save my soul.

"I've Got Tears in My Ears from Lying on My Back Crying Over You" is the title of a novelty country song.
Originally released in 1951 by Wayne Raney on King Records, the track is known for its humorously exaggerated lyrics about heartbreak. The song has since been covered by various artists, including Homer and Jethro and Skeeter Davis, and remains a recognizable piece of vintage country comedy.

I'd bet the following might be the track.
That is, as long as the books will refund my previous losses.

Asked an older (69) friend for recommendations. Predictably Elvis. I'm pretty sure the back of his baseball card says 3 championship level loved and losts. Recently touring with some mid-30's Asian vagabond; not quite Bill Belichick level, but at least he's in the hall of fame, in terms of those friendships that I haven't fumbled away.

Friggin' Leafs.
Cheers

Another pathetic showing but 2 points is 2 points.

Dudes born near the end of the disco craze in the late 70's seem to have a penchant for this band Hinder. Just sayin'. Anyways, found one more Hinder recommendation I forgot, probably as a psychological defense mechanism, similar to those three wise monkey tools.

Other was a machine.
Born yesterday.

Geez, how about some Texas Hippie Death Cult, or Somali Yacht Club recommendations? I must be in Rome.
