PF,

If you are using static IP's then two systems have the same IP's. If you are using DHCP then you need to release/renew one. Your router will allow you to determine how many DHCP address to give out. I would also bump the range of DHCP address to start @ like 100 vs. 1. If you have encryption enabled 64 or 128 that will slow things a bit due to encrypt and decrypts. I would also check the settings on your card, if you do not have a static speed set (desired tx speed) and it's set to auto then the system figures out @ what speed to connect and connects @ that speed, this can range from 1mb to 54 mb. Now also keep in mind that this will not make a difference in surfing due to the DL speed from your ISP is more than likely 1025 kb down. The only time you will experience issues is transferring files in the private network. You can also go to: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ to test your UL/DL speed to POPS all over the country I would do it from both the wired and wireless systems, just to confirm it's not your ISP. Regarding the DHCP I run a mixed network of static and dynamic IP's but I would also limit the number of addresses to give out via DHCP to how ever many you want otherwise it give out as many as a CLASS C address class will allow (254). Aslo as the other guys have said update both the NIC and the Router drives/firmware as well as bounce your modem and router, I would also leave them off for about 5 min. to ensure the cache is cleard. If you do make tweaks to your router make sure it's from a wired system. This site has some decent info: http://www.portforward.com/
