My mother has done both sides of my family via rootsweb.com, I think...

She is out of town until tomarrow, but I can ask her what sites and costs she has incurred in her searches.

I'll let you know more once I get a chance to speak to her.

Shamrock,
Do it! I have not but one of my sons has and got back into the 18th century over in Scotland and Ireland. It is fascinating. We have found many relatives in Europe and correspond and share info as one of my cousins over there is also into genealogy.
Birth records, marriage, death records, church records, immigration records...Ellis Island etc.
Expenses include requests for documents and it will cost a few bucks $5 for this $10 for that.
I'll find out more about websites if you are interested.

I've never done my family's geology, I'm thinking we're probably offshoots of marble, with some igneous thrown in.

my family's GENEAOLOGY? who the hell knows?

amh, that actually is funny. Use voice activated software to type, cause paralyzed from the neck down. Sorry for the typo, have to admit though, your post is funny.

But to clarify, asking about Family histories, not rocks or fossils:mj07:

i did my family "geology" and it came up linked with marble,too...sort of...

this is what they told us:

"your family`s as sharp as a bag of marbles"...

i think that`s good,innit?....:yup

I have dabbled in my family's history for about the last 10 years or so. I started looking after hearing of a heinous murderer in 1890 with the same last name. Turns out he's my great, great uncle!

You can do much of the research yourself free on the Internet. If you'd like more specific suggestions on sites or need any help, get my e-mail from Jaek and I'll be happy to help you.

SHIT MAN IS THAT FOR REAL  :(

..........................................................

shamrock was injured in a swimming pool accident and broke his neck.

takes alot of courage for him to make it through the days, much less worry about typos.

Most of us can count our blessings when we complain about things we have to put up with.

hang in there shamrock. your a rock dude so geology was correct.

my wife has gone back on both sides of her family and paid to see birth cert etc.

I am not sure I believe she has it all right but she seems to enjoy it.

It can get away from you if your not careful. I stopped questioning the time she spent researching and she finally got tired of it I guess.

Great post. :142smilie

I have tried a bit, but without much success. On my mothers side it is much easier and I have gotten back as far the mid 1700's. She is of mostly Irish decent which makes it easier. On my father's side it is extremely difficult since his mom is a full blown American Indian.....they dont keep much in the way of official documents once you get back a generation or 2....
