Having owned a Thunderbolt for a short 4 months the best advice I can give you is to get rid of it completely and get a better phone.

Those things are nothing but a headache.

I love any droid products and rooted my last phone, it was a lot better after I rooted it.

I bought both of my kids android tablet computers and thought it would be cool to root them for my kids so they would get the most out of them, well I did root them and they both performed a lot better. Only problem is, I also bricked both of them. 3 days after having new tablets, they both have a worthless tablet that won't even turn on. LOL

Not trying to be rude here, but do the other Thunderbolt owners live in a cave? Or maybe this was their first smartphone and they think this is how it is supposed to be?

Verizon/HTC was on the verge of having a massive class action lawsuit on it's hands due to this phone and it's continual problems.

constant app crashing
8-10 reboots per day at random times
inability to hold a 4G (and even 3G) signal
Minimal battery life - fixed with purchase of bigger battery
lack of OS updates
Mobile Hotspot does not reliably hold a signal

Rooting the phone - type in how to root your android into google and there are a plethora of simple step walkthroughs to do it.

Target will take this phone back with their electronic buy back program for $95 right now - which is a great deal to get rid of this brick and get something better.

My battery life isn't great, but thunderbolt kicks butt otherwise. I was unable to get a 3g or 4g signal one day last summer, but typically use this over my slower 3g iPad and find the performance outstanding.
