From the look of things, it sounds like people want a low buy in $10-$25 each week, with some kind of points system.

If we did a point system for the series, say 10/15/20 tournaments, we could each pony up a few extra dollars, either each tourney or all at once and that money goes to the top 3/4/5 finishers overall???

Question is, who holds the money??

How do we send it??

How many points are awarded for each place; i.e. 50 points for a win, 40 for 2nd, 30 for 3rd, 20 for 2nd, 10 for 5th...???

Sounds like Pokerstars is the overwhelming choice of sites, If we can get some more feedback, I will work on setting it up on Stars, say maybe towards the end of August???

Here are some thoughts, but I am still not convinced it would work out.

$200 Entry fee for season
10 tourneys played per person
$5 Buy-in per tourney (taken from entry fee)
$45 (minus Stars fee) Prize pool per weekly tourney (1st place paid only)

Example Season Prize Pool (20 players - $3,000)
1st Place $1,800 (60%)
2nd Place $900 (30%)
3rd Place $300 (10%)

*This is outside of the $45 paid per weekly tournament

PokerStars has 9 players per table max, correct?

Scoring per weekly tournament
1st - 20 points
2nd - 15
3rd - 11
4th - 8
5th - 6
6th - 4
7th - 2
8th - 1
9th - 0 points

Other rules:
-Table seatings assigned round-robin at beginning of season
-No-show is a forfeit
-Switching tables is allowed for scheduling
-Player who is assigned to table is responsible for finding replacement
-If switch is submitted and approved, then requestor is responsible for new table assignment
-Set a specific night per week
-Weekly will have set time but can be rescheduled with unanimous vote by table
-Points accumulated through season
-Top 9 scorers will move to final table
-Chip count based on final tally of points (is this possible at Stars?)
-No ideas on tie-breaker if more than one person is tied for 9th

I have not made 100 posts yet, basically because I just read the majority of the posts for entertainment while I have a few down minutes at work, so how do I apply for an exemption to this rule?

Animal,
This was just a "suggestion" by me, not man law yet :scared :SIB Not to offend you or any others with under a 100 posts, but to reach that amount should not be hard, so get involved and respond to some other threads, you and others lurking will be there in no time

Regarding the set up;
Maybe something designed after the NASCAR points system(I know nothing about it, but the PGA must think it works  ).
Have the weekly game on Wednesday(selfish plug :142smilie ) $10-20 buy in, plus $5 goes towards the championship pool at the end of the year. Maybe we start late August(b/4 football) and the last two or three or five weeks are a $10 or whatever higher amount buy-in near the end.....
We see how many we get and decide how the pay out would be right after the National Championship (football) game is played, via a poll from all the players who have played?
Lets see:
$5 fee to play x 30 players x 50? weeks= $7500 :com:
$5 fee x 50 players x 50? weeks= $12,500 :scared
Maybe it should end before the WSOP, cause the last scenario works well for the winners' buy-in? kurby (IE, we need a poker player emoction!)

Last year, I was in an online league at Stars, and the way we figured points was that we just "borrowed" the formula that Stars uses to figure their "Tournament Leader Board" points, which they award to the top 15% of finishers of their regular tournaments and I did one small adjustment to the formula so that everyone who enters the tournament is awarded points for playing.

We did a 20-tournament league, with only 15 tournaments counting towards the final points standings, and if someone played more than the required 15, then we just used their highest 15 tournament point earnings to compute the standings.

Also, since Pokerstars is a sponsor, maybe their support staff could help us out as well. :)

(working on my posts total. ;-) )

Do they have Private Leagues? This may be less work than we thought.

I don't really think we should have a minimum post requirement. Despite all the apparent initial interest, I think we'll find that we'll need everybody we can get.

I think there would be more interest if PokerStars has private leagues. That would eliminate the possibility of Agent stiffing anyone. kurby

Oh, come one, Agent. I'm only kidding.

Sort of... :scared

Seriously, just kidding.

Right. No way Agent can have anything to do with holding money or anything of the sort. He seems to have a little 'problem' in that area.
