What a fluckin story that bothered me for the last half of the day.
I stopped posting races here cause, after doing very well last season with them college FBers, I spent whatever time I had with them since this CFB season started. Without a doubt, that was a great move.
I didn't play a single race since FB season started. Yesterday, I got a little tired of doing the figures for basketball and didn't look forward toward dealing with all the football games for Sat. Soo... I thought I'd take cyber trip (online) to Parx. Prob. just watch a race or two. The last (8th) race horses were in the paddock and I download the capping stuff and went over that race pretty quickly. I remembered following two of the horses that I've done good with in the past and checked them out vs. the 2 heavy favorites in that race, nos. 1 and 7. Those 2 I liked were nos. 3 and 4.
Here's the important part - maybe there was a problem w. Spires software or a network prob. but did anybody notice that the LIVE screen was blank (bad weather maybe?).
I decided I'd throw some pocket change at that race just to see the horses run and nothing was showing "Minutes to Post". I was pretty sure that the horses weren't even near the starting gate yet. And I'm also pretty sure based on the way it worked that the BETTING part of the screen was working properly. I've been with Spires for a no. of years and nothing like this ever happened before.
So.. I'd just go for a nice, juicy Parx exotic payoff (this is a good track for those things) by putting my horses (3 and 4) OVER the 2 heavy favorites 1,7, in an exacta. POCKET CHANGE - 1 stinkin dollar tickets. I entered the bet and and everything looked fine, hit the submit button and nothing happened. I BANGED on the dang button twice and still nuthin happened. WTF.
Maybe they did start?. NO, cause I put TVG on the television an they're just starting to load. And besides,Spires would have given me the "race started" screen if they did start before my bet got there.
What do I see on TV, I watch the no. 3 (38/1 shot) horse nails the 7 to complete a $400 TWO dollar exacta. to the tune of a $400 payout. :0038
Could it get any worse than that - haven't played a race for quite some time, land on the right race, win the race, and don't collect a cent due to a rare bug in the system. Sometimes gamble ain't fun at all.
