Taking the wife for our 25th wedding anniversary as that?s where she requested we go. If you?ve visited, where did you stay?
Looking at a condo rather than a resort, and I?m really interested in the difference between west Maui and south Maui as I?m reading there?s a few differences between the two locales. Thanks for any and all thoughts about visiting Maui. :toast:

Actually went in 2016 to watch Bucky in the Maui invite. Wife rented a condo through vrbo. Glad we did that rather than do a resort. We did the road to Hana, sat on the beach and watched Bucky. Wife and kids loved it there.None of this is probably much help to you though.

Was there in early 2000's. Stayed at Royal Lahaina Resort on west side. Things may have changed, but it seemed less crowded to the west. Everything and everywhere is beutiful, you cant go wrong regardless :toast:

That?s what I?m gathering from all the reading I?ve been doing about staying on Maui. Island isn?t that large, so you?re not going to be too far from many of the sites we might want to visit while there, but I?m also reading that the traffic on Maui can be horrendous so being on the West side where it?s a little less crowded appeals to me. Thanks for the reply. :toast:

Wailea is usually where we stay, but stayed once in Kihei and it was nice. More resorts in Wailea than condo rentals, but there are some. Kihei filled with condo rentals, and kihei seems more family friendly with quieter water for snorkeling and playing in the water. Golf, snorkeling at Molokini, Luau at Marriot resort, Sunrise at Haleakala, Maui ocean centre, are all things we've done and recommend. Also spending lots of time at the beach and relaxing in highly recommended.
Cheers!

Yep not very big. No reason to pay someone to take you snorkeling either. Plenty of places rent the equipment needed, and plenty of bays and coves to snorkel. We loved that! Also not sure if you are a golfer, but play Kapalua if you can, I rented clubs. Wife drove the cart so I enjoyed the golf and she got to enjoy the beautiful views, win/win. We took the short flight to O'ahu to pearl harbor one day as well. As a history guy I had to! Funny part was I did not see a cop car the entire time I was on Maui. We arrived in Honolulu that morning to go the Pearl Harbor and it sounded like I had never left Atlanta with all the sirens. Again, beautiful place that you will love regardless of direction you stay.

Kapalua is the one thing I requested I get to do while there, she can choose all the other stuff. I?m lucky that she likes microbrews so I?ll get to sample the local beers as well.

Been to Oahu, it was great, but also going to Maui June 1st-12th as an incentive trip from Company and extending it 5 days. Staying at Ritz Carlton 7 days, getting to play Kapalua Plantation course 2 days on the company with buds. Extended and staying after in an Air BNB in Lahaina so looking forward to it all. Lahaina looks like it has great restaurants and great private beaches with Sea Turtles. Not sure when you are going. Look forward to seeing what you think about it.

Hotels: Ritz Kapalua is awesome...Montage is great as well
Play golf at Kapalua...gorgeous
Lahaina has a cool vibe. There are lots of great places to eat there.
Renting a car is a must, and I suggest doing that sooner than later.
Snorkel at Molokini (sp)...like a crescent shaped island. Also tons of free snorkeling places by black rock cliff in Lahaina/Kaanapoli area area.
Restaurants: Mama's Fish House, Lahaina Grill, Four Seasons Lobby Lounge, long list

Best sunsets in the world. I love to watch sports so early in the day and don't be surprised when things close early.

Went back in September. Stayed at a VRBO in the International Colony Club. We got in touch with the guy who owns it directly it was amazing. The view, the proximity to the beach. I rented a truck thru Turo and went to Slaughterhouse Beach (secluded spot with turtles and big waves). It was during Covid and I'm a non-vaxxer so we couldn't go to any restaurants. We went to the Ka'anapali Beach Club resort a couple days to hang by the pool and get hammered. Black Rock Beach had some cliff divers and was decent. Did a snorkel tour thru Snorkel Bobs and it was AH-MAZING. All the Mai Tais you could drink and some great coral reef snorkel spots. Did the Luau thing too but my wife told me I had a lot of fun (I don't remember it---too many Mai Tais). Drove up to the top of some massive mountain that was above the clouds and took a hike, the road up that mountain was a little hairy but the views were spectacular.

There was a shit plant right up the street from where I stayed, I put in an application for work but haven't heard back from them yet. I plan to make this a once in every couple years trips now as it is absolutely paradise. The non-stop flights from Vegas for 150 each way didn't hurt my decision making.

Enjoy
