Anyone ever notice when you don't buy a key half-point...

So I took Illannoy +4.5 tonight, but didn't post. I knew buying to 5 made sense as it's a key number IMO. Of course, I didn't buy it and they lose by 5. I know numbers show buying points is a bad investment, but I can't tell you how often I lose by a half-point when I don't buy the half-point. Illannoy fouls with 5 seconds left in regulation when they were up 3 (dumb to even challenge the shot!). Game goes to OT and 77-72... just pissed off and venting so a completely worthless post.

Buying points is always tough. My current site, which I'm not a big fan of...doesn't allow it very often. I miss my old site but anyway...

Yeah, I had Virginia +1 1/2 last night. I considered buying the point but didn't. I usually don't like buying in bball unless it takes it to +/- 3.

Sure enough, NCSU ends up with the ball down by 1. Somehow, after a timeout, the best shot they can get is a 25-footer. It missed badly, but if it goes in I lose where I could have bought.

I think it comes down to what kind of gambler you are and discipline. If you are the guy that puts the same unit on almost every bet and play several games a week, in it for the long haul up's and down's will pan out at the end.....then you should probably never buy.

If you just want some action and/or are not like the disciplined example above, then I think buying makes more sense. This is the category I fall into. This isn't my job and I do want to make money but I am a lot more risk/reward.

Overall, you just have to make that decision and go with it. You can buy 10 points sometimes and still wouldn't win. Other times you buy that crucial 1/2 point and your team covers by 20....and a half lol.

I mainly just go with the important #'s, of course 3 is probably the biggest in both football and bball. Sorry you lost, esp in OT...

I think any numbers between 2 to 7 in hoops would be considered key. In football, key numbers are 3, 4, then buying from 6.5 to 7 or 7.5 to 7, 10, 11, 14, 17, etc.

Yeah, for me in basketball the big number is 3. Team down 1 and misses, has to foul, if they make both its at 3.

Football is like you say, and with totals, things like 34, 41, 45, etc...

Also, I think 6 is pretty big in college football especially with the OT rules....

Quite frankly buying points in general is not a good investment. Maybe and I only mean maybe in football on a line of 3 to get on or off but that is it.

Buying a 1/2 in a basketball game or a basketball total? Makes absolutely zero sense. I would go the other way and sell points if possible on basketball totals and go to a plus money position.

You will be better off with this strategy in the long run.
