My wife and I are going. Tickets are about $200 each. (at least the seats we want are $200) We have never been and always wanted to go.

Has anyone been to the KD? Any advice or things to look out for?

Anybody know a wealthy big cheese with their own luxury suite????

check with Doug Thompson. He lives in our area, and I hear he's pretty wealthy and likes to play the ponies. I bet he has a box so he can drink his mint julips in peace.

I can't be seen in public with Doug - he looks like a dead italian raccoon dressed in wet clothes. It's bad enough waiting for him at the table to make a decision on whether to fold or raise.

and what about that chit he does with his glasses all the time??? pretending he can't see, taking them on and off... That's really getting tired.

Dr. F. won almost $200 last night in the d.c.!

I'll be there Thurs, Fri, Sat. This will be my third - I've seen Barbaro and Big Brown win. It is just an absolutely awesome time.

I meet a buddy in Ohio, and we travel down and stay with another buddy in the Louisville area, so it's really good that way.

We've never had seats - usually just pay the general admission and hang out in the paddock. If you don't mind standing, it's pretty good - you get to see all the horses being saddled and in the walking ring, and then watch the races on the big screen. The worst part of the general admission areas is that the lines for the mutuels get to be longer than Florida on Derby day.

And once you get enough Budweisers into you, you don't really notice how much the $10 the mint juleps cost. ;)

You'll have a blast.

Thanks for the info - I never thought about hanging around the paddock which is what we do at Keeneland, but then we would just go back to our seats at race time.....$10 mint juleps.....my wife will send me to the cleaners on that day.
