Matter of fact, I'll be there Wednesday to Monday. Not my typical trip as I'll be with family so might be hard for me to get away. My best shots of getting away will be late night and early mornings but I plan on getting out Friday or Saturday night to hang with Sixfive and Dr Feelgood. I also plan on seeing NYSportsfan for a beer or 3 over at Bellagio some time too. I'm staying at Planet Hollywood. Shoot me your cell and I'll return mine and we'll try to hookup for a few.

I'm booked up, man. I have my wife, stepdaughter, and her fianc?e. They don't gamble or drink and they have me to entertain them. I'll be doing all the things that I never do in Vegas. I even have a car for 2 days of activities away from the casinos. I'm even going to the damn dam, so yep, this is not my typical trip. Two birthday dinners, a couple of shows ties up 2 nights. They're going to see Britney Friday night so I see a window of opportunity to slip away and get my gamble on and hope to do that with Sixfive and Feelgood.

So WTF is so funny? :0003

Definitely looking forward to the new Vegas experience. Mob Museum, High Roller, shopping, shows, nice dinners.

Anybody have suggestions for a day trip away from it all? Not the Grand Canyon, that's too far for a day trip. Death Valley? What's that place up north that's even supposed to be a lot cooler? Valley of Fire or something? Is that any good?

Too much to do, too little time. Sleep will not be a priority. :0008

I'll try some sort of TR with pics but that's difficult and time consuming.

Death Valley is really too far for a day trip, unless you start early and enjoy driving thru several hours of desert, just get a quick peek at a few of the famous photographed areas...

Valley of Fire is much closer, definitely easy day trip, more red rocks with a nice paved loop road to view the strange moon/desert landscape.

Even closer is Red Rock Canyon, which isn't quite as other-worldly like Valley of Fire (let alone the vast and huge amazing desolation of Death Valley) but the nice loop road there can be done as a morning trip.

Make it more of a day trip by visiting the nearby Red Rock Casino - the ladies will like it as it is as elegantly designed as a strip casino, and has a good sports book boasting a fine deli (which boils their own bagels!).....if you don't want to drive much, or want to go a bit off the pavement to more spectacular areas at Valley of Fire or Red Rock, you can leave the driving to Pink Jeep Tours...

A trip to Mount Charleston for a day hike is not that far away too.....but like was mentioned....Red Rock Canyon is real close and right down the road is Bonnie Springs....you may get to see some wild burros...they have a petting zoo and a gunfight and some neat old fashioned Wild West stuff.....

Mt Chareston some nice shacks. German Restaurant I think. Valley of Fire was not impressed...Bryce Canyon....All farther than the dam though.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Shopping at outlet malls is good for non-gamblers....theres a north and south outlet mall...fashion mall too.

Mob Museum was cool....picked up a Lucky Luciano T shirt.

Half-Day trip to lake mead...pick up a bunch of loaves of bread, or a bag of dog food, and go down to the marina docks and feed the gulls and huge carp and stripers....then wonderful lunch-dinner in Henderson at I Love Sushi 11041 S Eastern, is a sure crowd pleaser.

Valley of fire is good for ATV tour, period.
Red Rock canyon, yawn....pretty to look at.

Really not much in a convenient day get away...

Send em shopping, you go plug a few VP machines and make some coin.:0074
